I deliberately forgot N500k in a first bank savings account and the money has not moved up by N1 in the past 6 months. Just 3 days ago they charged me N4 for SMS for period of one month. I guess there is no reason why their brand wont be soaring when all they do is keep people's money without paying anything on top. Meanwhile its not like i have made any withdrawals for the period under consideration.

Try Access bank, you'll be glad you did.

How can you leave 500k lying fallow? Take ur money and buy treasury bills. If you had bought in January, the rate would have been 14% for 182 days. Still try and buy. Shop around different banks. Diamond bank gives very good rates. Even fixed deposit would have given you more money.

Now I understand y ECOBANK is taking up to a full mth just to gv me a common ATM card. Now I no where I should be bank in, instead of ECOBANK, b4 they close up.

My dear, that loose cash was left in place for short to medium term emergencies. I needed and still need to be fairly fluid in liquidity. I am definitely exploring other options especially given the abysmally low returns on money market

By the way @ blank, do you freelance? I might need some help in financial management. I cant disclose this to my Group's subsidiary who are actually fund managers as questions may arise over a number of issues (my practise brings in more than my salary). Although i also had a stint with the bank, i cant claim to be investment savvy and will be glad to tap into your skills and experience.

I have taken the liberty of in-boxing you and do hope to get a response.
