Nice topic. Is anybody actually using this Mtn Dstv stuff?A friend of mine said he uses it on my N70 and that it cost approximately 150 naira to initialize and start the streaming connection;then from there, you can watch the channels free of charge. That is 'hear-say' though as I have not actually tried it.
So,how does it work,peepz?

no. the channels are not streamedĀ  through the 3G network. DVB-H is the technology. something similar to what ourĀ  tv "cable" companies use to transmit their channels.

Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by Dclique(m): 2:49am On Jan 04, 2009
I thnk the 1500/month is quite ok
Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by cabali(m): 7:01pm On Jan 04, 2009
not for me, it isnt! I'd rather just pay for the decoder and card for N9K monthly. I dont need dstv in that size everywhere I go.

Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by cabali(m): 3:02pm On Jan 06, 2009
Unfortunately not. It is actually done by ZTE for DSTV so if u are getting it here or in south africa, the cost is the same equivalent.

Hey Peepz,

I think Ma Phone (Nokia N96) is DVH-B Enabled so it means I can subsribe to the MTN DStv service yeah?
I posted some Screenshot I took just to be sure I was right.
Pls Advice.

Hasta La Vista.

Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by texazzpete(m): 4:50pm On Jan 07, 2009
@airroseice
Sorry, but no. Your phone has DVB-H, but MTN and DSTV have restricted the service to the ZTE phone, so they make money from the subscription and the crappy chinese phone.
Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by airroseice(m): 4:57pm On Jan 07, 2009
Tnx 4 Clearin dat up!
I guess I'm Just gonna have to wait till they can allow Subscription to other devices.
Peace Out cool
Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by cabali(m): 10:20pm On Jan 07, 2009
And I doubt if that will happen considering the fact that they make some cash off of exclusivity. It is just like Dstv allows ur Hitv decoder to broadcast their channels. Kinda like that
Re: Mtn 3g/dstv by airroseice(m): 11:34pm On Jan 07, 2009

I really don't think you can watch any TV on your N96 in Nigeria. it's got to be DVB-H, and for now the only players are MTN with this dstv thingy.
