Content, traffic, traffic. That's all some low experienced Adsense publishers will tell you. But even as important as content and traffic could be, there are many influential variables that goes into the results people see in their Adsense accounts. Maybe you are not aware about all of them. Sometimes it may mean simply psychology or perspective on content and traffic. At other times, it could be simply understanding the capabilities of the features built inside Google Adsense itself.

For instance, not may Adsense publishers are aware that you can actually block adverts from specific categories from showing on your website. But why would you even bother to do that in the first place?

Having the highest volume of traffic or content may not necessarily be the key to higher income. Sometimes, people with lower volume of content and traffic can even be making more money from Adsense than you.

Take for instance that some certain advertisers in the automobile niche have their Ads placed by Goolge in your website, but your website's content is all about health. This happens every time. In that scenario, the majority (70-97%) of your visitors are interested in health. Do you think anyone of them will have motivation to click automobile Ads? What if your Google Adsense ads are all about health?

This is one of the widely unknown variables that affect click through rate in Adsense publishing.
