This Jona govt is a disgrace. But why are we like this in this part of the world? Why are we so desperate for political power?

Why do we like compromising all our institutions just becos of selfish interest?

How can professional security chiefs say categorically that they can not provide security for an election and they said that without tendering their resignations. Is that not the highest height of incompetence and dereliction of duty?

Are we not witnessing a new kind of coup in Nigeria at the moment? A coup against the wish of the people to self determination by an incumbent govt and actively supported by highly compromised security apparatuses.

All true democrats must stand up against the introduction of this new kind of coup in our polity. Because it is obvious that even if the election is postponed, the security chiefs may still come out to say they are not yet ready at the proposed 6 weeks time. Infact, they may even purposely allow the security situation to grow worse just to frustrate the elections.

GEJ's maladministration and ineptitude has allowed the security chiefs to loot millions of naira if not billions, and they would do anything to ensure he continues in power so that the status quo of non-accountabilty can continue. They know it that under a Buhari regime, they can't manipulate funds and even their performance sef. They know that under a Buhari regime, this their woeful performance at the war front will not be tolerated, that is the reason they will try and ensure GEJ comes back. But God is greater than them all, only God's will, will prevail.

May God help us.

All I am concerned about is the safety of Nigerians. If the military is not available, pls shift the date
Re: 21 INEC Resident Commissioners Reject Postponement Of Elections by Timijo(m): 7:36pm On Feb 07, 2015
I support wholeheartedly the proposed
shift in election dates. For crying out
loud the polity had been heated up
beyond boiling point. The tension in the
air was so ominously thick that it could
be cut with a knife. Nigeria was obviously
on a precipice, like a disaster of
gargantuan proportion waiting to
explode on our faces. Adrenaline was
pumping crazily into our political
bloodstream, major actors dagger-
crossed, waiting for the whistle before
going for the jugulars of one another.
Weeks to the election the ground had
been soaked with so much blood! What a
country! What a people!! What an
election!!!
I pray that the extension will allow
frayed nerves to calm down. Hoping

Nigerians all over are waiting to hear when the Nigerian general elections will hold. The press room is full, all media houses are on ground...We hope and pray the decision today will favor the generality of Nigerians not the cabal.

My advise to our sister country Nigeria, is to shift the date.. to avoid violate in the north.

that way you conduct base on 12 state each weekend for the president election. , You go with

northerners are more violate, so you want to conduct their election first..

first week of presidential/governorship election... Bauchi, gombe, kaduna, sokoto, kebbi, zamfara, katsina, yobe, borno, jigawa, kano, adamawa

this are the likely violent state. You want to conduct their election first.. to avoid violent at the poll. You want to conduct this state first.

second week of presidential/governorship election Plateau, nassarawa, taraba, imo, enugu, abia, ebonyi, anambra, rivers, cross rivers, bayelsa, akwa ibom.
What type of weed are you smoking? cry

IbnSultaan:
Twenty one Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have rejected a proposal to postpone Nigeria’s general elections billed for February 14 and 28.

In a vote conducted Saturday by the INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, after he met with political parties and the civil society, 21 RECs said the elections should continue as planned while 16 others voted in support of a reschedule.

Nigeria has 37 RECs, each for a state and the Federal Capital, Abuja.

The outcome of the vote came as Nigerians await INEC’s decision on whether the elections are moved or not.

Civil Society leaders said Mr. Jega had told them at their meeting that the commission was under pressure to postpone the polls after all security agencies, including the military and the police, warned that they will only support polls held at least six weeks after the current dates.

Jibrin Ibrahim, a senior fellow at the Centre for Democracy and Development, CDD, in Abuja, who was at the meeting, said Mr. Jega told the meeting that security operatives told INEC that they were commencing a six weeks special operations against Boko Haram insurgents in the north eastern corridors of the country and would rather not be distracted by the elections.

Mr. Jega announced that the security forces also said the operations are due to commence on February 14, the date INEC had planned for the presidential and federal legislative elections.
Earlier, 17 political parties out of the total 28 voted in support of an extension.

The opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected any plan to postpone the election saying such calls are sponsored by President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling party to stave their imminent defeat at the polls.

It is not clear what the commission’s eventual decision would be with the latest voting pattern by the RECs.

Mr. Jega is expected to brief the media any moment from now.

There is no reason for the election to be postponed. All calls for the election to be postponed must be rejected. If GEJ cannot keep Nigerians safe for 4+ years, what makes him think we should allow him to continue for another 6 weeks? This craziness must come to an end. Allow the elections to hold so Nigerians can decide their fate.
