Starcomms to me is the worst isp in Nigeria.

I use starcomms sierra wireless aircard 580. I pay 15k every month for evdo and get 1x constantly. The highest speed I have ever reached is 9.4KB/s and it never stays there it goes down to 450B/s. I have been using it for a year. I am sure that I would prefer MTN 3.5G to this slow connection.But I use more than 3gig monthly. So I am going for vangage wireless. I am going for it b/c the CEO of the company is my neighbour.

why are you crying? you have been using the "rubbish" for 1year. that speed is enough for you to log on to nairaland and post nah. wetin you need internet for again nah?

Starcomms is not rubbish my brother. If you are subscribing to the new Starcomms Izap, you must first be within EVDO coverage area to enjoy fast speeds. Just check out this thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-155069.0.htmlto see the amazing speeds people are getting on Starcomms and without a bandwidth limit. Your problem going from your above statement is you live in a place without EVDO coverage and therefore browse at 1x speeds. Please make sure you do adequate research before buying anything in the future.

lol, it prolly means signal is bad in your area, i have the same prob wiv starcomms, going for the woteva u called it is wise sha, they der not give their CEO bad service, lol

starcom worst isp!?? hw many oda isps hv u tried or researched on?
recently guys noticed that "ur sierra card" gets very high rates (e.g like 1MB/s)

i pay 7k per month and i make good use of my card for maximum downloads and uploads.

where you utilise the faciity is very important.

don't enter any one chance vangage whatever.all you need to do is find out the coverage areas for the evdo-izap service.

even my 1x friends don't complain because they have the i-boost software.

I was in the toilet with my laptop when I saw speeds of 35KB/s.

I WENT OUT OF THE TOILET and my speed reduced. So now I get high speeds in my toilet.

Ooops. . and for how long are u goin to remain in there?

I use StarComms IZAP package and its pretty ok 4 me. I even download DVDs (using IDMs and BitTorrents) and larger files within accepted download time and speed.

guy pls if u are still in nairaland pls help me sith how i can get an installlation software for the aircard 580. pls help because i want to use it with my new laptop, and i cant find my own installation cd. send mail to: lanre_festus@yahoo.com
