OP, this is not what christ stood for. Go back and re read ya bible. If you do, you will see where christ spoke about all that. He said a lot of it is written and tgen he gave new translations to most of them. He said it is written an eye for an eye but I tell you if someone slaps you on the right cheek turn tge left to him too. He said pray for your enemies and wish good to those that curse you. He said forgive 70x70 times He said a lot of things that if you were not so stuck on proving christianity as a devilish and blood thirsty religion, you would have noticed and understood. Granted your oga was overdoing it. But he said what he said out of anger at what extreemist moslems are doing. Have you been oportune to see what those ISIL are doing to people? Go and look for those videos and come back and tell me you dont understand where your boss is comming from. Anyhoe, as long as he did not butcher the man or insult him to his face and the man did not feel threatened, na ya oga sabi, |

delishpot:I get u point... But again if Christ has abolished all these acts then what are they still doing in the pages of the bible? And again when people like my boss accuse Islam of being a religion of war, they backup their claims with one statement from the koran...how can one statement from the koran represent what a religion stands for? |

Anyone familiar with the scriptures will note that Yahweh has no reservations about ordering the deaths of heathens. In the Old Testament he is not a God of Peace. Even the Laws of Moses, given to ensure man lives in harmony, includes death sentences for certain violations. The Flood is the most obtrusive example of his mass annihilation tactics for those who have strayed from his direction. The destruction of the cities of the plain is another. Yahweh's own actions are far from exemplary, he approves of Noah's animal sacrifice after the flood because the burning flesh has a pleasing smell. He orders Abraham to sacrifice his son on an altar as a test of loyalty. This is hardly admirable conduct from a divine being. |

obiZEAL:Well, I believe its because moslems have not had any imam contradict what the quran said. As Jesus came and gave some what revised new laws, so christians are not bound by most of the old laws . On the other hand, no imam has come forward to sa Mohamed s laws can be done away with and tge new law should be so, so so. Love all, no jihad, no killing of infidels, no taxing them etc. Till then, the quran still stands as it is. To many chrisrians, the Old testament is a book that peers into the history of the begining of the christian religion. The new testament is the new law which comprises of the laws from the OT that still holds and the law that christ added to it. |

Oh yes the bible commanded such violence and deaths and horrible evil actions but christians now dont let it influence their actions because human morality surpasses that of any God(s) or anything written in the pages of a book. But looking at the actions of most muslims in the world are best described as brainless folks with a book and gun.. Tho those two books bible and koran are real shiiiits and are not supposed to influence any man's thinking and actions.. |

obiZEAL:When you live by the divine law of God, and you break it, God will not ignored it,those verses you quoted that God killed, who are the people God killed? Are they innocent? You claimed to be a christian and wanted to know the truth, instead of you to search the scripture, you went and search the internet. All the verses you quoted up there are the verse God pronounced judgement on the sinner, you even went all the way and make a case for witches and wizard including evil men, seriously? You quote a verse questioning God why he will destroyed the idols worshipper,my good friend. You are not a christian. here what God said to the isrealite; "It is not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you are going to possess their land, but it is because of the WICKEDNESS OF THESE NATION that the LORD your God is driving them out before you, in order to confirm the oath which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. ( Deuteronomy 9:5) Okay, how "wicked" could those people have been? let find out; "You shall not behave thus toward the LORD your God, for every abominable act which the LORD hates they have done for their gods; for they even BURNS THEIRS SONS AND DAUGHTER IN THE FIRE TO THEIR gods ( Deuteronomy 12:31) The wickedness of these people is confirmed in other verses of the Bible.3 So we see that these people are not quite as innocent as the Muslims would like you to believe. The fact that these people practiced child sacrifice is also confirmed in the secular writings of the Greeks. |

The violence you speak of with regards to the quran have been well explained inwww.nairaland.com/2092548/root-caused-islamic-terrorism ending of page 0 as well as 1 and 2. The things most Christians are guilty of is that when Muslims point at the violence verses in the Bible, they give excuses why it's not actually a teaching, but when Muslims give them their own reason why such Quranic Verses have a context and explanation, they accuse us of lying. So as long as you continue to portray Islam as a religion that preaches violence relying on these verses regardless of the explanations so shall we continue to do same to you until you accept the truth and stop been hypocrites |

delishpot:Everything you said up there is false and unreal. How many christians ready to turn other cheek if slapped?. How many of you forgive 70x? You are not being real. Those nonsense were Paul's teachings. Jesus did not abolish the Law. The Laws Stand. If you dont agree, it means you contradict our own Book and your Book also contradicts itself. Here is what Jesus said "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.Matthew 5:17 “It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid.” (Luke 16:17) “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law” (John7:19) |
| Re: Post by michaelwestern(m): 6:04pm On Feb 27, 2015 |
OP you are confusing judaism with christianity. God never commanded any christian to kill anybody. There was nothing like christianity before Jesus Christ. Christianity is built on Jesus Christ and Jesus never asked christians to kill anybody. The old testament is in the bible so that we can learn about how God related with the jews not to obey their commandments. If you read the old testaments very well you will realize that the commandments were given specifically to only the isrealites. Every other nation then were gentiles and they had no obligations to obey the commandments. When.Jesus came, he connected the gentiles to God not through the isrealite's laws but through his blood. And he gave the christians only two commandments which is Love the Lord your God and love your neighbour as yourself. |
| Re: Post by johnydon22(m): 6:47pm On Feb 27, 2015 |
michaelwestern:He never commanded the christians but he commanded jews right.. Is it not the same yahweh? Is the christian concept of yahweh diferent from the judaic concept (original concept tho) Why is the jewish commandments in d christian scriptures. Why say the old testament laws applies to christians but yet when faced with passages as this you remember its in the old testament... Why not say the whole old testament is invalid or is it that you just cherrypick the ones that appeals to your morals but others that dont, you just say its in the old testament forgetting your ten commandments and other laws are also from the old testament... |
| Re: Post by malvisguy212: 6:50pm On Feb 27, 2015 |
Empiree:how did Jesus fullfiled the law? ? No prophets say the word " I come to fullfiled the law" only Jesus ,why? When the law was introduced, it was never intended to be the instrument by which man would save himself, but it was the instrument through which man was to be saved. In a very real sense, man is saved through the fulfilment (keeping) of the law. When Christ fulfilled the law, he earned the privilege of life. Those who are in Christ, likewise, share in his righteousness and are delcared righteous right along side him. In that sense, the law has always stood and will continue to stand. Romans 7:7What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." 8But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead. 9I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. 10THE VERY COMMANDMENT THAT PROMISED LIFE proved to be death to me. 11For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. 12So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. This is the point Jesus was making>>>> The law offered life through its fulfilment and death through its violation. Jesus was saying"I NEVER SIN AND I AM THE PERFECT EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW. How do you fullfiled the law?is it not by keeping the commandment? I know you will not understands it. Because your heart is sealed. That being said, there's still hope for us wretched sinners: Romans 7:4Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. 5For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. And verse 6 say>>>>> 6But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the NEW WAY OF THE SPIRIT and not in the OLD WAY of the written code. Looking at the block starting with v.7 we see that the law is not bad (in fact it's good) just because we use it as a springboard for badness. The law is good, and it's been fulfilled by Christ. He was the one who fulfilled it; not us. |

malvisguy212:Am Sure you must have understood that the bible is a one sided story book...God played the jury and the judge and he never gave room for free will, the pages of the bible suggests that God kill people at will...and it don't go down well with me when SOME christians tag Islam a violent religion just because of a hand full of deviant muslims. That where I have a problem. |
| Re: Post by obiZEAL(op): 7:52pm On Feb 27, 2015 |
malvisguy212:Just as there are sooo much more verses in the bible like the ones up there that other christians to kill and destroy. |

obiZEAL:I will seth a challenge for you, produce a verses in the bible were God killed innocent people, and when you do that, give the whole story so that the viewers will understand.we all know the killing start during the FLOOD and later soddom and gomorah, these people sacrifice there sons and daughter for their gods and practice homosexual, infacte they even attempt to sleep with the angels God sent to warn them, hence their punishment/judgment.everything about killing continue during the exedus era, read below; The Amalekites attacked the Israelites without apparent provocation as they were traveling during the Exodus ( Ex 17: . "When you were weary and wornout, they met you on your journey and cut off all who were lagging behind" ( Dt 25:17-18). They later attacked Israel during the time of the Judges (Jdg 3:13) and often raided the Israelites' land after they had planted crops, leaving them with nothing ( Jdg 6:2-5). God punished the Amalekites by ordering Saul to destroy them ( 1 Sam 15:2-3) - over 300 years after they had first attacked Israel. |

johnydon22:Did you even read my post before quoting me? I stated it clearly that the old testament laws are not for christians. God gave the commandments to isrealites only there was nothing like christianity then. It's the same God but different dispensation and to the best of my knowledge the OP was referring to christians not isrealites who were given the commandments. Let me state it clearly again, christians dont follow the old testament commandments, we only read the old testament to learn about how God related to the isrealites before christianity. |
