Speed Limiters Enforcement: June 1 Remains Sacrosanct —FRSC by Timbi: 4:19pm On Mar 24, 2015
The June 1st enforcement date for the enforcementof speed limiters in the country remains sacrosanct, Corps Marshall, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi has said.

Speaking yesterday at a joint press conference with road safety stakeholders in Abuja, he said all commercial vehicles were expected to have installed the speed limiters device before the fixed date to avoid being prosecuted. He, however said, he was satisfied with the level of compliance by the relevant stakeholders with the innovation.
The Corps Marshal said the aim of the device was to ensure that commercial vehicles on the road get their speed controlled to avoid road casualties and fatalities. Oyeyemi said when the speed limiters initiative is fully complied with, it will put Nigeria amongst countries where it has significantly reduced road crashes.
Representative of the National President, National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), South West zonal chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Salami appealed to the corps marshal for a training of drivers against dangerous driving.
Deputy President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Chief Elijah Uwumokpo appealed to the corps to ensure that vehicle users are able to get their drivers licence two months after they have gotten the temporary licence to avoid harassment.
