Sorry to digress, Does the item in bold apply to the state of Israel too?

Of course, Israel should protect its citizens but they don't have to murder 1,300 Palestinians to do that, do they?

civilian casualties are not avoidable in a military conflict. War is not a video game. Do you see what's happening in Sri Lanka?

Agreed, however, we must not avoid considering the scale and proportionality of such casualties!

wars are not meant to be proportional. if a war is proportional it will never end and more people will end up dying. okay how many palestinian do you recommend should be killed for the war to be fair richy?

First answer this, why did they stop killing Palestinians when Hamas was still standing? Wasn't the aim of the Zionists to destroy Hamas?

On your question of "how many palestinian do you recommend should be killed for the war to be fair richy?" my answer is none! The Israelis did not have to kill anyone to stop the rockets! All they needed to do was to hold up their own end of the truce - stop blockading Gaza and stop preventing the supply of aid to the Palestinians.

This thread has nothing to do with Israel.

It's about Darfur and the murder of indigineous Africans by the Sudanese governement and it's support of the supporter of APC Muslim militias.

That genocide is not "unfair". It is a barbarity beyond comprehension for the vast majority of people.
@Richie. Consider the "scale and proportion" involved in Darfur and then stick to your pathetic claim that it is merely "unfair".

@Bastage,

Stop behaving like someone who skipped English Comprehension classes in primary school, okay? I never termed the genocide in Darfur as merely "unfair", of course that genocide is despicable and only the harshest of words should be reserved for the perpetrators. And war crimes charges must be brought on the executioners of the appalling massacre of Black Muslims in Sudan.

I used the term "unfair" to describe auwal87's position and not the genocide itself. Please make a note of the difference!

I am blaming the US for supporting the rebels in Darfur and their "Sanctions on Sudan"

You people need to understand that, USA once bombed a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan claiming it is affliated with Al Qaeda, few days later, it changed the affliation with Al Qaeda to support from Saddam Hussein to create biological weapons. This factory was supplying 50% of the pharmaceutical demand in Sudan, after the bombing they have to look out for Import. This is a Credible Deception

what scale? a thousand people dead in about 30 days is disproportionate? do you how densely populated Gaza is?

The Russia siege of Grozny brought way more casualties. Pakistani operations in the tribal regions usually leads to casualties in the 60 per day range and you are here talking about proportion?

soldiers usually get preferential treatment in warfare, similar things happened in the Nigerian civil war where Soldiers were well fed and taken care of compared to the populace.  Starving civilians makes good propaganda and hamas loves PROPAGANDA!!!!!!!!

Re: Sudan's Darfur Conflict by auwal87(m): 12:08pm On Feb 08, 2009
An obvious question is: Why is Sudan plagued by internal conflict, and how are these three conflicts related, if at all? There is no easy answer, but a few explanations do shed light on the problem.

First, colonisers drew the boundaries of present-day Sudan without heed to the different religious and ethnic groups that already inhabited the territory, which was under joint Anglo-Egyptian control until 1956. This set the stage for showdowns between the north, populated predominantly by Arab Muslims, and the south, populated largely by animists and Christians of African origin.

The British lit the tinderbox when they left by leaving an elite group of northerners in charge.

Second, over the years those in power in Khartoum have marginalised southerners, Darfuris and several other groups in various pockets of the country, including provinces in eastern Sudan. In addition, the Islamist policies of the government in the 1990s added to the alienation of the southerners.

Third, rebels in all corners of the country share similar grievances over Khartoum's failure to provide even the most basic of services, and widespread abject poverty has fueled calls to share the wealth.

The discovery of oil in southern Sudan in 1978 only raised the stakes. Sudan rakes in up to $1 billion year in oil exports but there is little in the way of social services to show for it.

In 2005, it looked as though Sudan had finally moved to put its house in order. The government and the main rebel group in the south, the Sudanese People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), signed a peace deal that ended the north-south civil war.

A new power-sharing government was sworn in. But the peace deal looks shaky.

The conflict in Darfur and the possibility of new violence in the east, where rebels have the same grievances as those elsewhere in the country, threaten to derail the entire process.

Former SPLM rebels are now in the central government as ministers, so the fates of the south and of other troubled areas are increasingly linked. And as SPLM soldiers have supported the rebels in the east, the south could yet play a role in further conflict with Khartoum.

That colonials drew national boundaries without regard to ethnicity or religion is true of just about every African country. I'm not sure those countries attempted to redraw the lines after the colonials departed, though little stood in the way of their doing so. While religion and ethnicity continues to be a headache, few governments arm militia in a genocidal quest to wipe out other tribes. The Sudanese governement is guilty of horrific crimes againsts its own citizens. The targeted tribes have taken to camps, but these camps are patrolled by the supporter of APC. Anyone who wanders too far falls into their clutches.

Western countries make sympathetic noises about war and conflict in African countries, but will act only if it's in its interests to do so. China supplies the Sudanese govt with arms and undermines UN efforts and resolutions against the Sudanese govt at its councils, because of Sudanese oil.

Nothing nothing nothing has been learned from the unspeakable horror of Rwanda.

Sudan rivals sign Darfur pact

Representatives of Sudan's government and the Justice and Equality Movement (Jem), the most influential rebel group in the country's western Darfur region, have signed a joint declaration of good intentions.

Qatar, which has been hosting peace talks between Jem and the Khartoum government for a week, announced the agreement on confidence-building measures on Monday.

Black Muslims are annoying when they start defending Arabs. mess Farrakhan too. You are all mad. Even the Sudanese vice president said Bashir is behind the genocide. Arabs don't give a rat ass about your no knowledge of self Negroes. What did Egypt do when the Darfurians ran to Egypt as refugees> Egyptian authorities returned them home where they were killed. What did Egypt do during Pakistan's issues, they opened the boarder for Pakistanis to come in and buy goods. And here we are. Many darfurians ran to Israel and were telling the Israeli authorities that "Arabs are your enemies and Arabs are our enemies too". Even though Israel had to turn prison yards to refugee camps because there was no place to keep the refugees, they didn't return them to Darfur where they'll be killed. Stop this Colomentality. Put your blackness first before religion and stop supporting Arabs or Europeans or whatever. Put Africans first!!!

We are so gullible!!!! too gullible!! I hate you all that can't even see this for what it is instead you turn it to religious issues. This is a racial issue and the Arabs don't give a rat ass about you. Did Israel also caused the Maltreatment of Blacks in Libya? did Israel do that too? Ignorant baboons, you are going back into slavery!!
Re: Sudan's Darfur Conflict by Nobody: 12:59am On Mar 08, 2009
black africans are already in mentao slavery. Islam simply makes it much worse.

Perhaps Israel is the one selling blacks into slavery in Mauritania too and Israel is responsible for the fact that interracial marriages between blacks and arabs is almost non-existent in arab nations and that blacks, who are free in Israel and western nations, are openly known as "abd" (slave) in Iraq.

The African/Naija moslem fanatics are the most irritating ones. They go on rampage for an issue in Palestine but I have not seen any riot for the victims in Darfur why? They are blacks, less moslems and deserve to die.

It's easy to castigate someone outside a group than within a group. It's similar to Nigerians who defend corrupt politicians in their ethnic group. Naija muslims especially in the North have been easily brainwashed to see sanctions against Sudan as an attack against islam.

@ All ARABS and MUSLIMS haters here.

Would you please keep your hatred for even a second and look at the reality?

Oh my God!

It seems you don't even agree that you "HATE" all Muslims and Arabs.

If you do, please clearly state it here saying you hate all Muslims and Arabs. I bet you cannot and can never say that, but down there in your hearts you "HATE" all Muslims and Arabs.

Hate is a very loose weapon, you can never win with hate.
