youghs:

Firstly, Our MRAP can stop 12.7mm. Ezugwu to be specific and I think ARA as well buh m not saying mrap should do the work of Armoured vehicles,,,jst stating the fact

Secondly, buying Humvees from US is a very bad idea, I
would rather suggest locally made armoured vehicles or russian, and Chinese Armoured vehicles Cos US doesn't really support Nigeria in military terms, If its going to take them 6 years to supply us 12 tucanos while it took them just 2yrs to supply Brazil 24 tucanos..You should know they don't give a sh*t about us

Thirdly, We should also keep in mind the financial capability of the military which makes them to prioritize..I think the soldiers in northeast in general are more than 30,000 men which means we would need up to 3,000 or 6,000 vehicles depending on the capacity of the vehicle..The average cost of a decent armoured vehicle is up to $70k..

Lastly I hope you know that most of BH vehicles are Captured NA Hilux which means if you are trying to up the game of the soldiers in armour protection you might as well be uping the armour protection of BH..that may sound somehow buh it's the truth.

What I would suggest is for the army to invest in more infantry fighting vehicles that can engage BH as far 2km away thereby increasing the engagement distance between soldiers and the terrorists which limits the damage BH AK47(which you said 95% of the fighters Use) that cant go more than 400metres would cause to soldiers..

Local capacity to produce is very limited and the only one that's meets international standard and has been put to independent inspection is the Pro force MRAP.

The USA has over 50,000 different armoured platforms just getting rusted across its inventory that are classedbas retired or surplus to requirements.

Do you know the US was actually stripping a good number of its MRAP'S for scrap metal because it was cheaper to do that than ship them back to the USA, crazy but true.

It's about diplomatic maneuvering to gain access to support.

Nonetheless, there are multiple NATO countries with stock piles if armoured vehicles they don't need.

A few years ago the British army retired it's Panther LAV with have mine protection as well. Over 400 vehicles. There were some issues but the Russians still use them today.

Again its about our own procurement strategy how ingenious and innovative is it to get best value and most effective outcome delivery for the Armed forces. Particularly in the HERE and NOW.

As opposed to the best deal for the powers that be.

AK47 in the hands of a very well trained operative and under battle conditions bullets flying left right and center. With iron sights at best body sized targets you are talking 300 metres.

In the hands of frenzied ISWAP combatants them you are talking about 100-150 metres.

OPERATION HADARIN DAJI AIR COMPONENT TAKES OUT SEVERAL ARMED BANDITS’ CAMPS, NEUTRALIZES SCORES OF BANDITS IN MULTIPLE AIR STRIKES IN KATSINA STATE

1. In continuation of the renewed offensive to rid the North West and North Central States of criminal elements, the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI has destroyed some armed bandits’ camps in a forest in Katsina State south of Birnin Kogo along the Katsina-Zamfara boundary area. The air strikes were executed yesterday, 15 June 2020, as part of missions under the subsidiary Operation ACCORD after Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports as well as series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions indicated that some clusters of huts in the area were being used as mini-camps by members of notorious armed bandits’ gang led by one so-called "Adamu Aleiro".

2. Consequently, the Air Component dispatched a force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircraft and helicopter gunships to engage the area, leading to the destruction of 3 of the targeted camps, some of which were seen engulfed in flames. Several of the criminals were also neutralized in the process.

3. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), commends the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI for their professionalism and urges them to remain resolute in the conduct of air strikes whilst continuing to provide close air support for ongoing ground operations in order to eradicate all armed bandits; thus accomplishing the directives of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to restore normalcy in the North West and North Central Zones of the Country.

Isreal is not a good example they have been in a state of war from inception if not right from Biblical days.

Add to that the continous contention with Palestinian or if you like Philistines from day one and it seems will be indefinitely.

The land border wall is not more than 500 miles in addition they have deployed some of the nest technology known to man to keep it under continous observation.

Nigeria is country that it seems cannot afford to properly kit it's soldiers. Our combatants are going around in soft skinned pick up trucks.

We should consider the USA border wall is projected to cost over $22 billion. Essentially even if Nigeria could we don't have the money.

Finally, walls can be compromised tunnels built under them, climbed over or holes made in them nothing is guaranteed.
.

Israelites of the Biblical era & today's Israelites aren't the same people.
the former were Hebrew descendants of Jacob while the later are product of Balfour agreement.
The only Biblical Israelites in the state of Israel are the Bnei Menashe returned from India in 2005.

So the state of Israel has been at war since the 50's not Biblical era.

OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE: TROOPS FOIL KIDNAP/ARMED ROBBERY INCIDENTS NEUTRALIZE MARAUDING BOKO HARAM CRIMINALS AND RECOVER ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN THE NORTH EAST

1. As the tempo of clearance operations increases both in the NE and NW theatres of operation, more Boko Haram/Islamic State’s West Africa Province criminals continue to succumb to the superior tactics and fire power of the troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE. In the early hours of 14 June 2020, troops of Army Super Camp 11 Gamboru in Ngala LGA of Borno State effectively cleared Kusumu and Warshele Villages which appeared to be the terrorists' logistics base. The troops also cleared Kumo, Diime and Sabori where they engaged some marauding Boko Haram criminals hibernating in the general area. After the encounter, the troops neutralized 13 Boko Haram criminals and captured 21 locally made guns, 2 Dane guns, one Sniper Rifle, one 36 Hand Grenade, one Improvised Explosive Device Bomb and 2 Boko Haram flags. Other captured items include 5 cutlasses, one digger, one spear, 5 bicycles, 3 motorcycles, 5 carts, 2 loud hailers and one Lister generator. The troops equally rescued 32 captives comprising 16 women and 16 children.

2. Similarly, on 11 June 2020, the troops of Strong Response Area Pulka in Gwoza LGA of Borno State conducted an ambush against Boko Haram elements along Pulka - Bokko - Kirawa Road. Troops made contact with a band of Boko Haram logistics couriers attempting to cross from the Mandara Mountains to Banki axis. The gallant troops neutralized 2 of the criminals while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Additionally, troops recovered 4 bicycles and bags of grains from the fleeing insurgents.

3. Earlier, on 10 June 2020, same troops of Strong Response Area Pulka in conjunction with elements of Borno State Civilian Joint Task Force successfully ambushed and neutralized 3 Boko Haram criminals dressed in foreign military camouflage uniform along Pulka - Firgi - Banki Junction - Sabsawa. The troops also captured 2 AK 47 Rifles loaded with magazines, one Rocket Propelled Gun, one Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb, 5 extra magazines, 45 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, one Hand Grenade, one Honda motorcycle, one cell phone and First Aid kits.

4. In a related development, the troops of 151 Task Force Battalion deployed at Strong Response Area Miyanti in Bama LGA of Borno State conducted a robust clearance operation into suspected Boko Haram criminals’ hideout at Miyanti general area. The operation led to the neutralization of one Boko Haram member with one other captured alive. Similarly, on the same day, the troops of 117 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with elements of Borno State Civilian Joint Task Force sprung an ambush against elements of Boko Haram criminals’ logistics couriers at Gwagwamdi in Askira/Uba LGA of Borno State. The successful ambush operation led to the neutralization of one of the Boko Haram criminals while others escaped with gunshot wounds as evident by the blood spills along their withdrawal route. Additionally, the troops captured one AK 47 Rifle, 2 AK 47 Rifle magazines, 27 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, 8 bicycles and bags of foodstuff and clothing materials. Additionally, a Toyota Starlet vehicle belonging to the insurgents was burnt during the fire fight.

5. Also on the same day, the combined troops of 242 Battalion, Sector 3 Quick Response Force and elements of Strong Response Area Gajiram while on fighting patrol encountered Boko Haram criminals mounted on 3 Gun Trucks at Jilgata in Nganzai LGA of Borno State. In the process, the gallant troops eliminated 5 of the terrorists and recovered 4 AK 47 Rifles. One Malam Hassan Bukar earlier abducted by the Boko Haram criminals was rescued while one Toyota Land Cruiser jeep was also recovered by the gallant troops.

6. The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai commends the troops for their resilience and patriotism in crushing the remnants of Boko Haram/Islamic State's West Africa Province criminals and urges them to maintain the tempo as we approach the end of insurgency in the Country. Equally, the High Command of the Nigerian Military appreciates troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for their unwavering commitment in the Theatre.

It's sad that at a time when bokoharam/ISWAP might be at their weakest and making alliances with all sorts of people including bandits and brigands, our neighbors are all missing in action. Absolutely nothing from their sides. This is the moment that this insurgency can be reduced to the barest minimum yet they are not concerned.

Amir Abu Imrana aka Abu Imar was an indigene of Marte Local Government Area (LGA) Borno state. He personally commanded a joint Boko Haram/ISWAP Special Forces of about 300 men – with numerous sightings along the northern locations of Kusuman Village. The ISIS Commander is believed to have died in Sabon Tunbuns after he was mortally wounded in a fierce encounter with elements of the Nigerian troops and MNJTF sector 3 in Marte LGA on Sunday 14th June 2020. Sources say he was immediately buried by his own fighters.

The identity of one of ISIS in Africa’s most notorious Commander in Chief, Amir Abu Imrana remains a closely guarded secret even upon his death. What is certain is that Boko Haram/ISWAP West Africa leadership will quickly replace the ‘3 Star General’ and jihadist Commander in Chief.

Perhaps, the strategic leadership role of Amir Abu Imrana in the battlefield is an open secret to explore.

Here we examine the impact his death will have in the battlefield (if fully exploited by regional forces) vis a vis the ongoing regional Counter Insurgency (COIN) war against the most active and deadly ISIS/Al-Qaeda linked jihadist affiliates in the world.

His targets
Abu Imrana was the brain behind the recently coordinated attacks by newly appointed Commanders who ambushed Monguno town deploying one of the special purpose suicide bound vehicle improvised explosive device (SBVIED), Gubio town, Nganzai and the United Nations Humanitarian office in Borno state. He had previously directed several attacks on the Nigerian military garrisons including attacks at Garunda, Metele and other strategic military locations in the shores of Lake Chad.

His position

Suicide Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (SVBIED) invented by Imrana
Amir Abu Imrana doubled as a commanding officer for ISWAP factions after both jihadist groups agreed to establish a coalition of convenience against the Nigeria Army and the MNJTF Lake Chad contributing troops in April 2020. His death will impact on Boko Haram/ISWAP planning and battlefield command. In particular , attacks directed on hard military and soft civilian targets in the region.

Amir Abu Imrana is said to have been one of JAS leader Abubakar Shekau‘ most loyal but ruthless commanders and Shura Council member after the death of Mohammed Yusuf in 2009. He sat along side senior Boko Haram leaders like late Mamman Nur (then deputy to Shekau) and was part of the inner circle commanders who initiated the strategic idea of Boko Haram forced relocation to the Sambisa Forest after the 2009 troubles. A displacement that was precipitated upon Boko Haram leadership following heavy Nigeria military deployment and the formation of the local CJTF in the BAY States to fish out known Boko Haram members from their urban hideouts.

In 2018 Abu Imrana replaced a high profile ISWAP commander in Chief Abu-Nura after he was killed in one of the strikes on SabonTumbu village by the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force coordinated strike. Abu-Nura, until his own death was in charge of Jibillaram-Dabar Masara axis in the Lake Chad region.

In early April of 2020, ISWAP lost hundreds of key fighters after a coordinated heavy ground and aerial clearance operations launched by the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force and the Multi-National Joint Task Force sector 3 around the Lake chad shore side of Chad and Niger republic.

There is a saying a picture says a thousand words.

The picture you posted was a M1151 HMMWV which is the armoured Humvee.

So bit of a contradiction from you.

Why would anybody want a soft skinned pick up in a hostile war zone ❓ But to answer your question l would want none of them both of them are a liability. Buy if l had to make choice it would be the Toyota. The Humvee is very heavy and slow bigger and a much easier target.

Mali lost near 50 troops a few days ago when Jihadists ambushed them. Why don't these ISWAP affiliates never attack French convoys.

There is something to be learned here in asking the question WHY.
