There is increasing confrontation between US soldiers in Syria and SAA soldiers. Three days ago, a US military convoy was prevented from passing through a checkpoint, it escalated to a gunfight and airstrike was called in that resulted in the death of Two Syrian soldiers and wounding others. Yesterday, a US drone was shot down over Syria.
they'd better tread slowly with pro_assad forces to avoid another Russian mercenary story.

In continuation of air strikes being conducted under subsidiary Operation HAIL STORM, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has successfully neutralized some Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) Commanders and knocked out logistics facilities at Bukar Meram on the fringes of the Lake Chad in Borno State, while also neutralizing several terrorists at Dole, a settlement in the Southern part of Borno State. The air interdiction missions were executed on 17 August 2020 on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating a resurgence of terrorists’ activities in the 2 settlements.

2. Bukar Meram, a major ISWAP logistics hub linking other Island settlements of the Lake Chad, which also houses several of their fighters and some of their key leaders, was attacked by an enhanced force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships which hit designated targets in the area leading to the destruction of the logistics facilities and neutralization of several of the terrorists and their leaders.

3. The attack at Dole was carried out after Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions showed a build up of activities in the area after the relocation of some terrorists from nearby settlements of Kokiwa and Yale. Overhead the area the ISR aircraft spotted no fewer than 20 terrorists in the area, which were taken out by the NAF attack aircraft.

OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE: AIR TASK FORCE LAUNCHES SUBSIDIARY OPERATION HAIL STORM, DESTROYS TERRORISTS’ HIDEOUTS, LOGISTICS FACILITIES, NEUTRALIZES SCORES OF FIGHTERS IN LAKE CHAD, SAMBISA FOREST AREAS OF BORNO STATE

1. The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralized scores of terrorists and destroyed their hideouts and logistics structures at Tumbuma Baba and Boboshe in Borno State. This was achieved in air strikes executed yesterday, 16 August 2020, on the first day of missions of a new subsidiary Operation codenamed “HAIL STORM”, which is an air interdiction operation aimed at taking out identified Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram Terrorists’ (BHTs’) targets in the Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest areas of Borno State.

2. The attack at Tumbuma Baba, one of the Island settlements on the fringes of the Lake Chad, was carried out after Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicated that several ISWAP fighters and some of their leaders were harboured in some structures concealed under the thick vegetation of the area. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets dispatched by the ATF to attack the location scored devastating hits on the settlement, killing several of the terrorists and destroying their structures. Several terrorists were similarly neutralized and some of their dwellings destroyed at Boboshe, a village along the river line on the Eastern part of the Sambisa Forest, as the NAF jets took turns in engaging the location.

3. The Armed Forces of Nigeria, operating in concert with other security agencies and stakeholders, will sustain its efforts to rid the North East of all terrorists and other criminal elements.

Hearing that Kukawa, where Borno State had encouraged a week ago several hundred IDPs to resettle under military & police escort is now under #ISWAP attack. Clearly, ISWAP not keen on authorities trying to settle back communities in their ZoCs. Hoping damage is not too bad.

Magumeri doesn't have any military presence. A telecommunication mast was destroyed and suspected military informants and tax defaulted were killed.
The Airforce had divided its assets between north east and north west hence the increase in the attacks.
This is the best time to give all police helicopters to the airforce so that they can be maximized
Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Whyem15: 3:14pm On Aug 19, 2020
The reasons we've been seeing increasing attacks from more factions in the northeast is because bokoharam/ISWAP seems to have bursted the myth of the invisibility of the Nigerian armed forces. To the non-states actors, the Nigerian military is a wounded tiger and this is the best time for all jackals and hyenas, even rats to move in and show their own power.
If only these non-states actors can be given the same treatment as IPOB members and the Shia movement, then rebels/terrorist/bandits will start running from soldiers as they used to and are suppossed to not ambushing and confronting them.

We can set up like Brigade/Battalion recon teams/platoons. They'd recon routes up at least 25km from the base, doing as many 7 days in the field.

However, for the known danger lands, I wonder why they're not using SF guys to shift the balance. A 2month 'small offensive' of SF doing harassing attacks in the enemy's rear. Keeping them unbalanced

Total number of soldiers is less 8000, no meaningful numbers of armored tanks and armored protection vehicles, no meaningful air defense systems. About 5 mig21s that could be destroyed where they are based in the initial phase of the attack which is only possible if one of the countries bordering Mali lends us their airbase to launch attacks from, most reliably Ghana, our F7s will cause a lot of issues for them.
We desperately need JF-17s for missions like this, distance between Bamako and the nearest Nigerian airbase is almost 1700km.

Considering this coup has France's fingerprints all over it, I would advise that Nigeria looks the other way and just protect the borders because the coup will definitely be beneficial to terrorists groups in the region and movement of weapons.
Diffa Airbase has Nigeria Air Assets already. simple, fly bombing missions over strategic targets and airdrop ecomog trooos.

There is high time Nigeria ordered Assault transport Helicopters for Combat troops mobility and dedicated attack helicopters for both the Army and NAF to nip this criminals in the bud.
Like this scenario , if there is availability of these platforms these evil will be drove back.
And strategic ISR platform for the Army

Some comments for here dey always make me laugh grin

The only thing we can do is impose sanctions, if is a direct sanction by Nigeria on Mali, it might not even have an effect on them at all. Only through ECOWAS can we hurt them with sanctions.

Any decision that will be make on Mali can't be done by Nigeria alone. We need the cooperation of ECOWAS, France and the UN.

Make una stop exaggerating Nigeria power and influence as at now.
