With so much fighting in northern Nigeria, one would actually hope to see pictures of soldiers in combat than posing.

That would be difficult to get mate......!

Even with the western and European military fighting terrorism, we see much more pictures of soldiers posing than real combat pictures.

Thank God for few leaked videos...... lipsrsealed

Budexxi whats your opinion on the whole thing, do you think a handful of prisoners can change the path of this war ?
Plus if the prisoners are still willing to be reunited with their terrorist buddies then the whole rehabilitation program is not working is it?

It's in two fold's

- exchanging terrorist prisoners for the chibook girls to reunite with there families, would be a big win in propaganda war for so long.

- exchanging terrorist prisoners to reunite with there buddies, are we ready to face the consequence.

We should learn from other countries ,if we are considering swapping terrorist for hostages or not and we should be ready and prepared to face the consequence. Examples are Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi etc...... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_former_Guantanamo_Bay_detainees_alleged_to_have_returned_to_terrorism. For more list/info.

Returning chibook girl back home would be a very big propaganda war and for the present goverment. because the chibook girls where not the only girls captured in these war there are hundreds of women, girls and children being captured by the deadly terrorist group, but BHT understand the Power of propaganda and needed international attention to the world at that time, like wise the shekau needed the same.

So bringing those girls or exchanging them for detained terrorists would be a giant break through but we should be smart when playing the cards because it comes with a lot of conditions which we populates would not know and would not be made known to the public by the government.

Returning those terrorist back to there group for me would be deadly and fatal, That is my own opinion and stand. An average terrorist is ready to die for what they believe in and they are very difficult to change. The goverment should work with other countries if the U.S.A is not willing to help with the rescue of those girls.

- But if we are ready to exchange those captured BHT commanders for those girls believe me, there would still be another capture of innocent girls. you can't trust terrorist group like BH.

If you check the photos NAF released on Sallah day, he was one of the two pilots who carried out air strikes. I'm sure he's going to graduate to the JF-17s when they arrive.

and what makes you think they'll be used in swamps.

It's annoying ,reading some posts here.No car as a matter of fact can be used in the swampy areas in ND.there're villages tha ain't swampy.i think the army thought of this before deploying the kind of hardwares.

Please tel me which village in the creeks where militant "action" happens that is not swampy or mangrove vegetation
We all know what the vegetation of the Niger delta is.
And i've said it times without number that these platforms are better served in the northeast or middle belt.
See MRAPS donated by U.S government that they should be using in the north, they brought it down here ni.

Actually they are not going to make use of scorpion IFVS or MBTS you've seeing in the pictures, but the NA has amphibious vehicle that can be used like some of our okota APC,MOWAG & MTLB APC are to some extent good for the terrain.

But do not let us forget that operation crocodile smile is an exercise, the hard ware being show case is a kind of psychological warfare to show the ND militants that the army is ready at any time T. The Niger Delta issue is a very sensitive and could be volatile, a full military intervention could turn into another civil war.

The gun boats are there to patrol the creecks, our top brass are not dummies.

Are you aware that it's not only in the swamp they engage the ND militants. Both in the swamp and thick/light forest. And right now has we speak some part of Sambisa is fucken thick due to the raining season and flow of chad's river basin in such areas. Tanks are also designed for thick vegetation, the Biafra war and Vietnam are perfect examples.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SERVICES

As part of its commitment towards improving security across the country, the Department of State Services (DSS), has sustained tactical and counter-terrorism operations which have yielded major successes with the arrest of terrorists and other criminals across the country.

2. On 22nd August, 2016, one Samuel ASUQUO, a kidnap kingpin was arrested by the Service at Nasarawa Bakoko village in Cross River State. ASUQUO was the mastermind of the kidnap of three (3) Australian staff of Lafarge Cement Company, for which his gang received ransom of one hundred and fifty million Naira (N150m)

3. Similarly, on 30th August, 2016, the trio of Bamaiyi MUSTAPHA (aka Dan Borno), Aminu ISA and Hassan SHEHU, members of a notorious kidnap gang operating around the Abuja-Kaduna axis, were arrested at Lafia, Nasarawa State. The gang had earlier kidnapped five (5) Igbo women and collected the sum of Thirteen Million Naira (N13m) as ransom. They were subsequently arrested by the Service while planning a high profile kidnap in Abuja.

4. In another operation carried out same day at Tamburawa village along Kano-Zaria Expressway, Kano State, Alhassan MUSA and Ado Yusuf, members of a notorious kidnap/armed robbery syndicate operating from Falgore forest in Doguwa LGA, Kano State, were also apprehended.

5. On 19th August, 2016, two (2) kidnappers operating in Zamfara and its environs were arrested. They are Abdulrasheed IBRAHIM and Aliyu UMAR. The duo had been terrorizing residents of the area along with a kidnap group headed by Buhari General who is still at large.

6. Also, on 26th August, 2016, two (2) notorious kidnappers, armed robbers and assassins; Moses ACHIA and Fanen IGBETAR, were arrested at Kperlegba Village, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. One (1) AK-47 rifle, five (5) fully loaded AK-47 magazines, one hundred and fifty rounds of live ammunition and one pistol loaded with fifteen rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them. The syndicate had planned to kidnap a female business tycoon in Makurdi, Benue State.

7. On 3rd Sept, 2016, a kidnapping gang under the coordination of one Sunny ISAAC/late, which has been terrorizing residents in States of the South-East zone, was busted by the Service at Aba in Abia State. Prior to their arrest, the gang had masterminded series of kidnapping incidents in the State, including the abduction of one Uche IKONNE/f, an American citizen in the State. Other members of the gang arrested by the Service include Nnaoma AMAK, Chiedozie EBERE, Bartholomew MICHEAL, Chinweotito INNOCENT and Celestine IKARANGWAN, while the following items were recovered on them during the time of arrest; the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Naira only (N400,000.00), a Double-Barrel gun with two (2) live ammunition, a Toyota-Corolla car, a Volkswagen Golf car, and the mobile cellphone of the IKONNE/f.

8. In another development, this Service has arrested one Abbas MOHAMMED at Asokoro, Abuja. Subject was sending several threat messages to the Ukranian Ambassador to Nigeria. Preliminary investigation revealed that MOHAMMED was formerly employed by the embassy as a driver but he began threatening his former employer after losing his job arising from observed gross acts of insubordination from him to his employers.

We call on members of the public to support this effort by providing useful information to security agencies.
