Little wonder the airforce gets the majority of any funding for capital projects, they need it. I'm now more convinced that the airforce will be going for the M346 aircrafts. The alpha jets are past their time and it isn't surprising to the military heirachy that they are starting to crash, the last of the spares we got are now worn out and replacement can't be gotten for most of them.
The airforce will also be paying for the remaining MI-35s and most likely gett to more of it and the MI-171, it won't be surprising if most of the MI-24s are out of operation.
This is a group captain who has just pitched the need to reduce response time to the public nicely, why won't the president be allocating most of the money to the airforce when it is the CAS that is pitching ideas to him.

I wish the military could keep relating with the public this way, they will get the support they need. People will understand why billions should be spent on them.

Absolutely, but we should get at least one squadron of the JF-17 fighter jets, instead of sticking with only 3 pieces.
You heard what the man said, we don't have to be buying jets in 1,2,3 pieces, we should be getting them in squadrons because of our sizes and population, and issues, and I tend to agree with him on that. smiley

DEPLOY SIMULATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR CAPACITY AND FORCE MULTIPLICATION - COAS

The Chief of Army Staff(COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has urged officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army (NA) to extensively deploy simulation technologies for capacity building and force multiplication in aid to ongoing military operations across the country. He gave the charge today, Monday 26 July 2021, while declaring open a 5 day Simulation Excercise codenamed EX LION HEART at the Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria, Giri, Abuja.

The COAS represented by the Director of Courses , Department of Training(Army), Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose said the exercise is in line with his vision for the Nigerian Army, which is to have " *A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria.”*

He commended the Centre for collaborating with relevant organisations and agencies with wealth of experience in simulation technology to fast track its development.

The COAS appreciated the support of MASA Group and Bohemia Interactive Simulation, which he said availed the centre trial versions of MASA Simulated War gaming for Operational Readiness and Doctrine (SWORD) and the Virtual Battle Space Series 4 software, respectively. He assured the Centre of requisite administrative and logistics support to make it a centre of international repute.

In his address, the Director General Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria, Major General Felix Omoigui said the exercise, which is jointly organised with the Defence Simulation Centre Jaji is aimed at enhancing the capacity of the technical staff of the centres and sister security services for operational planning and decision making.
According to him, the exercise will equally sharpen the skills of personnel of the centres and the Nigerian Army in the newly acquired simulation software. He added that the joint exercise will further build capacity on the use of the MASA SWORD software. He expressed gratitude to the COAS for his support to the centre and for providing the needed logistics for the exercise.

The event had in attendance senior officers both serving and retired, participants drawn from various formations and units of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies. Highpoint of the event was the presentation of souvenir to the COAS.

Kai that Maiduguri Damaturu road isn’t cool especially for Soldiers. I think Soldiers on pass should look for a way to join a military convoy on that road.

Officers Dey join me do Azman and the rest….

I have never seen Damaturu with my eyes. I’ll rather stay six months here and save money for Flight. Well nowhere is 100% safe.

Airforce too should be assisting in such scenarios too by lifting Personnel to Abuja. No be say I go Dey see fine University of Maiduguri babes Dey snap inside Airforce planes enroute Abuja lipsrsealed

Beautiful beautiful analysis by Group Captain Shehu Sani. His explanation of the capability of the Tucano is one of the best, most thorough and yet simple analysis i've heard.

Like he rightly said Nigeria is not a rich country that can afford to buy every fancy jet that we hear about. We are fighting terrorists/bandits/ insurgents so we need something that will give us the best advantage to deal with these groups. From his technical analysis of what the Tucano is capable of it's clear as day that buying the planes looks to be a smart decision.

Nigeria is not fighting a conventional war that requires air supremacy against your adversary where the more expensive turbo jets would have come in. Hopefully in the future when the economy is doing much better and the threat of insurgency and terrorism finally ended we can take our time to make more strategic buys. From the observations of the Group Captain it seems we will have to buy a few more attack helicopters able to operate especially at night to really press home our advantage.

His analysis has also given me a better appreciation of why our Alpha jets have been crashing and not adequate. Sometimes when you hear of complaints of fighters jets not joining the fight to repel an insurgent attack one appreciates difficult in keeping some of these old planes in the air.

One can only hope and pray that our pilots fly the plane with the required skill and competence to finally help mortally wound all terrorists and insurgents.

Dasuki why? embarassed

Reminds me of the An 225, the largest lifter by FAR!
One evacked stranded Ethiopians from Libya mid '11 carrying 1500 standing passengers!
My informant has no reason to BS and when you see its specs its very doable. Frankly, it ISHYTS all over the other strato lifters like the C 5, C 17 or upcoming Y 20.

The large pressurised cargo compartment can carry wide variety of payloads. The length and width of the compartment are 43m and 6.4m respectively. Its height is 4.4m. The floor area and volume are 280m² and 1,300m³ respectively. The compartment can carry 250t of cargo internally or 200t up to a height of 70m on the upper fuselage.

The aircraft can achieve non-stop intra continental flight while accommodating 180t or 200t of payload. It can also perform intercontinental airlift of cargo weighing 150t.
It can carry 16 standard UAC-10 aeronautical containers weighing 10t each, 50 auto cars, turbines, generators, dump trucks, Belaz, Kamatsu and Euclid.

The NAF is smart. They also plan to buy KJ-100 AEW. That's an AWACS plane with AESA Radar up to 450km. So you can link up nicely with many JF17 Block 2s and enjoy JF17 Block 3 capabilities.

Airlifting might be expensive. A full military escort daily so staff on pass can join them.

Too many ISWAP checkpoints on that road. Some of the drivers will happily point you out

I never said he shouldn't post it, they way you pass across a news determines how it's received by your audience..
An example, ..... Grand mother becomes first female world trade organisation director and Mrs Ngozi becomes first female world trade organisation director.. both headlines are true but which do you think does more justice to our dear madam..

Likewise the post above, a soldier fighting for our nation was captured, yes we all have a right to know, but why tell the news in a disrespectful manner, with pictures and emojis already wishing them death, I can go on but let's end it here, I only hope my message was understood

"BE PROFESSIONAL AND COMPETENT" COAS URGES TROOPS

The Chief Of Army Staff Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya has on his visit to Headquaters 6 Division Nigerian Army urged troops to be professional and competent in discharging their duties as he commended them for a job well done.

While addressing the troops at the 29 battalion parade ground Port Harcourt Barracks, the COAS enjoined the troops to learn from their superiors in order to be proficient as he encouraged Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and Regimented Sergeant Major (RSM) to uphold the professionalism of the Nigerian Army.
"For you to be professional and disciplined, you learn from your superiors", he said.

Speaking further, the COAS charged the RSMs as custodians of regimentation to endeavour to bring back the glory of the Nigerian Army by being role models to the young ones.

To encourage the RSMs and motivate the troops to work harder, he handed over an official brand new Hilux Vehicle to 6 Division's RSM AWO Baba Bello to enable him carry out his duties effectively.
Other activities included were commissioning of fire fighting truck, garbage disposal truck, tractor and grass slasher acquired by the General Officer Commanding 6 Div NA, Major General SG Mohammed and also commissioning of renovated 2 blocks of 12 flats each and foundation laying for the construction of a block of 10 flats for Corpral below quarters.

Also among the COAS entourage were, the Chief of Operations Army Maj Gen OT Akinjobi, Provost Marshall, Maj Gen Olumuyiwa Aiyenigba, the Chief of Military Intelligence, Brig Gen Danladi Salihu and other Principal Staff Officers of Army Headquarters.

Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over his inability to secure the country from criminals, which makes the blood of innocent lives to flow in the country.

Gumi added that the same advice he gave the erstwhile president, Goodluck Jonathan, would be given to his “own brother” who appeared to be less democratic even than Jonathan.

The Islamic scholar made these revelations as he addressed a Muslim gathering as seen in a video by SaharaReporters on Tuesday.

Gumi said, “During the Jonathan era when blood was flowing, I criticised him because he was not doing enough. Why I blamed Jonathan with blood in his hands was because Boko Haram were putting bombs everywhere and the government was not doing enough.

“Because they killed under your regime, you’re responsible for that matter, if you have done your best, I can say Allah can forgive you, but if you are relaxed, no Allah cannot forgive you.

“So, the same thing now; the bloodshed now is more than the bloodshed during Jonathan's regime. So, now, you judge yourself to be fair. Our religion is a religion of fairness. We are fair to ourselves. During Jonathan, when blood was flowing in churches, mosques, and streets, I said let him resign because he could not control it. He could not handle it. I said resign with immediate effect.

“When people are dying everywhere, and the President and governors are attending wedding ceremonies. That’s what I mean by I don’t care. It is either if I’m true to myself. As I called for the resignation of Jonathan, I should call for the resignation of President Buhari. With immediate effect and the government papers (media) should carry it also.

“Even Jonathan as bad as he was, he was more democratic. When he saw there was a problem, he relinquished power and he said I don’t want blood,” Gumi said.

Gumi said he had two options either which to apologise to Jonathan or to ask Buhari to resign. He said he was not left with a third option, insisting that Buhari should resign for not tackling insecurity.

“Now, I have one or two options. If I cannot tell my own brother what I have told this man, then I should take an aeroplane from Abuja to Jonathan and say forgive me for castigating you in public. Either seeking an apology or castigating the President; there is no third option,” Gumi added.

Is so funny when some people keep talking about how security has improved under this administration
