Accordingly, Civil Military Cooperation activities are embedded in OP LAST HOLD which will commence from 1 May – 8 Jul 18. Activities for NADCEL 2018 will include COAS Press Conference, combined Church Service/Juma’at Prayer in all Formations, Sanitation Exercises and Seminars/Workshops. There will be robust Civil Military Cooperation activities such
as medical outreach, sanitation exercises, renovation/const of boreholes and town hall meetings tailored towards winning the

2. Additionally, the Nigerian Army Engineers will mould blocks using compressor machines and assist in building new homes for returnees at their various towns. The Nigerian Army
will also cooperate with state governments and ministry of agriculture to assist in land clearing for planting during the planting season. It will provide protection throughout planting
and harvest periods with patrols and escorts to ensure food sufficiency. The Nigerian Army Medical Corps will equally deploy medical resources fully to cover the period of the

INVESTIGATION: Inside a Multi-Million Dollar ‘Defence Contract Fraud’: Suspects arrested in Israel as Nigeria fails to act.

On Sunday, March 18 this year, the Israeli police arrested three senior officials of Israel Shipyard Limited on charges of bribing government officials in Nigeria.

The company’s Vice President for Marketing, Oded Breier, was one of the suspects arrested.

The next day, Samy Katsav, another senior Israeli defence businessman, was questioned by police in connection with the same bribery case.

Both Mr. Kastav and Mr. Breier were later released to house arrest, and parts of Israel Shipyard’s bank accounts frozen, Gold Bond Group, their parent company announced shortly after the raid.

The arrests followed investigations by the Israeli police and tax authorities as well as other international financial crime busting organisations into a 2010 contract with the Nigerian government to supply two Shaldags – military boats.

INVESTIGATION: When Generals Turn Bandits: Inside the massive corruption in Nigeria’s security contracting

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/investigationspecial-reports/268123-when-generals-turn-bandits-inside-corruption-nigeria-security-contracting.html

"Two years ago, as the late evening sun cast the cityscape in brilliant colours and long shadows, the two of us dragged our chairs under the Ube tree behind the Abuja office of PREMIUM TIMES. The setting sun had left room walls radiating excess heat.

My guest was a contractor who was turning his back on the Nigerian defence contracting gang. It was the second day of a series of interviews that lasted several months. A tripod propped a camera in front of us as he squealed on his collaborators and described a particular corruption-ridden, hyper-inflated gunboats purchase contract he masterminded."

they better release the full video of that claimed interview.

"My guest’s narration that afternoon portrayed Nigeria’s defence contracting as a sector operating like a pure criminal gang with a well-formed sectioning of roles split between high-ranking government officials, contractors, and manufacturers."

we dont manufacture much, so if our generals are conniving with foreign internationals/manufactures e.g Israeli, south African and eastern European to scam us, what can FG do about it ?? STOP USING MIDDLEMEN/"CONTRACTORS".

PRESS RELEASE

GENERAL NICHOLAS MEETS WITH LAKE CHAD BASIN COMMISSION EXPERTS ... Urges for Speedy Restoration of Socio - Economic Development in the Basin

A team of experts from the Lake Chad Basin Commission under the auspices of the African Union (AU) today paid a visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri. The team, which was led by Dr Eleanor Nwadinobi, a Gender Advisor, was constituted by the AU in conjunction with the Multinational Joint Task Force to proffer stabilization and revitalization strategies for the Lake Chad Basin. Eleanor Nwadinobi stated further that the team was mandated to research and work out strategies in the areas of Humanitarian, Socio-economic, Educational, Governance, Gender as well as Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism to revitalize and stabilize the Lake Chad Basin. Eleanor revealed that in carrying out its mandate, it was expedient for the team to visit the Lake Chad Basin Commission member states. She lauded the Theatre Command and troops of Operation Lafiya Dole for the successes so far recorded in the Counter terrorism and Counter insurgency operations against the Boko Haram terrorists.

Responding, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Rogers Nicholas told the team of experts that the security situation in the north east theatre is generally calm as the Boko Haram insurgents have been degraded. He however added that the terrorists have resorted to callously carry out isolated suicide bombing and IED attacks on vulnerable and soft targets.

While fielding questions from members of the team, the Theatre Commander lamented that a wrong narrative about the ongoing war on terror is undermining the operation and misrepresenting it in the public domain. He stated that the Nigerian state is at war and must be recognized as such to enable the effective mobilization of all instruments of national power to prosecute the war. "It is high time we reversed the wrong narrative that the ongoing war is between the Nigerian military and Boko Haram insurgents , it is rather a war between the Nigerian nation and the Boko Haram terrorists ", he added. Gen Nicholas pointed out, that other stakeholders must play their roles in the multi faceted war against the terrorists for the attainment of total defeat. He urged the team to be judicious in the execution of its mandate to facilitate the restoration of socio - economic development in the region.

Please disseminate this information to the general public through your news medium.

Thank you for your cooperation.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE LAUNCHES OPERATION THUNDER STRIKE AGAINST BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS IN NORTHEAST

On 14 May 2018, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), via the Air Task Force, commenced the conduct of OP THUNDER STRIKE against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in the Northeast. The Operation is an independent Air Interdiction by the NAF to attack selected BHT locations that are currently inaccessible to own troops on account of the onset of the rainy season. On the first day of the Operation, air strikes from NAF aircraft resulted in the destruction of BHT structures and the death of all the insurgents at a settlement in Gargash and at another one, East of Gargash, both in Borno State. Earlier on, a NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft had observed BHT presence over a settlement in Gargash, following which the ATF deployed NAF fighter aircraft to attack the location. After the successful attacks, some of the fighter platforms proceeded to an adjoining target, East of Gargash, where BHT activities were also observed. As a result of the attacks, the BHT structures within the settlements were destroyed and set on fire, killing some insurgents while some fled to hide under trees at a nearby bush. Consequently, another wave of air strikes was launched to strafe the hideouts, killing many of the fleeing insurgents. Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, was still in Maiduguri, where he had gone to motivate the frontline personnel while also obtaining firsthand information on the progress of the Operation.
