I got someone who is studying animal nutrition at university in nigeria and given the lack of prospect for graduates when finished studying, I am thinking of ways to give this person a better career prospects by investing in animal feed production or animal farming in either (snail, fish, poultry layer, broilers) given this person line of study is animal nutrition. I am therefore on here to gather as much insight into animal farming or feed farming production to get a clear feasibility to determine if such investment is good or not.

You are a good person @ Op.

I will suggest you start a piggery for the person. It takes 2 years before the profit comes and the learning curve is not very steepy compared to other animal husbandry. Disease and death of animal is not common and theft is not common too.

Other agroventures can build on this foundation as money and experience and connections increase.

All these is dependent on community acceptance of piggery enterprise. For instance I can't advice you to do this in core north.

Yes piggry is good , a fellow started with 2 pregnant pis last year & in less than a year it has inceased to 15 pigs. Yet he bought mixed breed of local & aggric which did not do very well in terms of number of piglet they had.

Cow fatten is also a good one because if you buy a calf at N55k & feed for 8 months you will be selling at N110k at least.
Simmilarly ram fatten is also good if you know the biz well.

why i said poultry because the numerous poultry farms all over nigeria.the demand is big.for piggery in the north is no way.in the south east/south i dont know who eat pork.to you can you guest any commercial piggery farm you know.if yes for me no

mortality is high in poultry 1 piggery
