Problem with South Africa.....

Years of apartheid...meant that most South Africans got something called Bantu education...which was just substandard education. (Many South African youngsters back in the days before 1994 had to get out of the country to places like Botswana, and even Nigeria to get good education).

When a country does not invest in the education of its citizens....and by education I do not mean teaching people just to read , write and reason with their mothers grin....I mean prepare the people for the challenges of the new global economic paradigm.....you are left with millions of unemployable people. Today....5% of black South Africans finish their equivalent of the SSCE. Meaning we have millions who cannot get a job or do anything in life. So...they blame the immigrant Africans.

Lesson for Nigeria....we must ensure that our education system works for the benefit of our children....not just to get a job...but to be able to innovate and think on their feet. Our education system is in crisis. It needs fixing. We may shout at the South Africans...but we have many of the same issues. Let's fix them fast.

South Africa too needs serious education and economic reform for the black majority. Countries like Finland and Singapore show us how to do it.

The economic reforms that were passed, the BEP, only benefited those who were in the or close to the ANC.

They've been talking about land reform since Mandela's time.

It doesn't seem to a be a priority for them at all.

The Angry UNDERTAKERS of South Africa:-
Some South Africans are angry with the foreign nationals in their country, and now, at least five of such foreigners had been killed. Their crime according to these human hunters is that such foreigners are doing the jobs meant for all full blooded South Africans. Now the evil of unemployment has been traced to the doorsteps of people from other Nations. It has been a galore of intimidation, looting, victimisation and murder…the South Africans' mob are exploding, strangers are dying.
Just like yesterday, the black South African groaned under the yokes of apartheid…their pains were global in recognition and deeply embarrassing to fellow Africans. People of African descents were united in their calls for freedom, articles were written, songs were composed, and monies were donated.
Like the coming of the dawn, South Africa became a free Nation, and black South Africans were clothed in the garment of equal rights.
The Country came out of her darks days a Nation well developed more than most Africa Nations-a reminder of how pure blooded Africans leaders are mere experts in the arena of economic destruction. Some Africans from other Nations left for South Africa in their bids for survival. However, this is not peculiar to South Africa, lots of Chadians, Nigeriens, Cameroonians and even the ‘almighty’ South Africans presently reside in Nigeria.
As peculiar to Africans, the Blacks who are leading South Africa since their independence are gradually pulling down the economic structures erected by the colonial masters…and behold, some of their wicked citizens decided to vent their angers on the foreigners. A Zulu King called for such action, and his disciples listened...and even a son of the man who is their elected president also proclaimed cruel words needed to propel Afrophobia.
The oppressed of yesterday are today's oppressors… God warned the Israelites to treat foreigners properly by remembering that they too were once victims of oppression in Egypt. Alas! The South African had confirmed the practical existence of the proverbial coward who gets hungry for a fight whenever he is lucky enough to encounter anyone he can wrestle down.
Other African countries should mandate the South African leaders to checkmate their blood thirsty hooligans. If they are tired of hosting foreigners in their ‘imaginary paradise’, let them follow due process and order them to be evacuated. Yes, let South Africa be left for South Africans alone and let see if they will then become the strongest economy in the whole world. It is true; when a slave becomes the King…the city should get set for unprecedented cruelty.

waiting for FG to talk bout this and make a statement, but thinking about the last disgrace with Money laundering/Arms deal I realized they will be like this is a joke from Nigerian Govt

So the only way is to frustrate MTN,Multichoice and Shoprite give them 5 days to leave nigeria and they will go back and talk sense to their govt when they realize how much their organization will loose

Just like USA did to hawaei, accuse MTN of spying, Multichoice of conspiracy, Shoprite whatever thats what the likes of FFK should be doing with that his big mouth

Adenuga should start thinking of Network Cable station, He owns glo should be able to start that up

I humbly suggest a 30days emergency evacuation programme that will see the return of Nigerians by air and sea. Now you see why having a national carrier is imperative?
Thereafter, the high commissioner should be recalled and the high commission closed. Then the Nigerian govt will nationalize all SA economic interests and employ returnees to manage them.
Trust me, SA economy will be never remain the same again and the "GREEN PASSPORT" will once again be highly revered, respected and honoured globally.

Nigeria embassy is one of the most ineffective embassies all of the world, they only sit down and chop money, they will be the first to label their citizens criminals, so what do you want the the citizens of such countries to do with your son's and daughters you have already label criminals.
Just hope one day there will be meaningful change in this country

This is not new. When food is not enough the fabrics of a family is broken/weakened, and irrational conducts such as the ones noted in this thread take foremost. A hungry man is an ANGRY. That human condition takes place in every geography.

It is evident Sub-Saharan Africans believe in attacking themselves instead of attacking those responsible for their less than desirable outcome in life. But again, no one owes Africa any reparation or abatement for slavery or colonization. Sub-Saharan Africans need to realize as they make themselves DOORMATS even within themselves INTRA and INTER tribal and national conflicts continue to ensue or set like kegs of gun power, about to explode.

In recent history assuming less than 35-yrs old is a good recent, Nigeria in early 80s kicked Ghanaians out of Nigeria, leading to a slogan known as Ghana-Must-Go. Nigeria in same time period ridiculed Ethiopia because of famine during a soccer tournament in Addis Ababa between Nigeria Green Eagles and Ethiopia Lions, it caused major diplomatic uproar. Ambassador to each country was recalled. Gabon at some time rammed Nigerians, and during 2000, South Africa kicked against Nigerians. Sub-Saharan Africa is rift with conflicts against other Africa nationals and intra-national conflicts Rwanda 1994. But Africa is not alone in this.

During Cold War, while the west and east blocks were jostling for piece of Africa as if the Scramble for Africa in the 17th century was not enough, Africans have been on top of each other in self destructive conducts. The global media hardly reported them because the power blocks saw the inter and intra conflicts suited to their divide and conquer manifestoes.

On South Africa, it is really a shame that after Nelson Mandela things got worse. Mandela did not do enough effectively speaking to stymie or quench future uproar due to social injustices from within and without. While the west loved him for not seeing to serious civil and social unrest at his coming to power and during his presidency, Mandela failed in my estimation because he did not create lasting institutions to address certain things. He was more ceremonial in his role than pragmatic. And to keep him engaged on appeasement and accolades endless speaking and dinner invitation flooded his in-box which he honored. He settled for dinner at White House, Buckingham Palace and all the other places were he was more appeased, celebrated and pleased than offered collateral deal to help address his 27 years of absence.

Here is my take: What if Mandela had leveraged his newfound fame and love, the west and the world was showing him, and he asked/demanded tangible investments as hedge for economic development? That would have been a great show/test of the love. Rather, he sought and settled for the song and dance, and after he was gone, the people who went along simply to get along now realized there is no value to FREEDOM when food is not on the table. The 2010 World Cup that South Africa hosted was to appease/toast Nelson Mandela but the economy of South Africa has not received any spikes as a result. It is more like Greece hosting the Centennial Olympics in 2004, in commemoration of its inception in 1904, but thereafter, Greece was insolvent. South Africa Rand which in 1996, was exchanging at single digits to the Dollar, is now in double digits. And anyone familiar with currency exchange rate slide knows it is hard to get back to the parity basis.

Had Mandela asked the world to commit/place $1b for each year he was jailed in a development fund to assist develop Soweto and other impoverished sectors of SA, and offered access to resources – capital not available to his people, I am sure if he did not get $27b, he would have gotten something. It is one thing to be President but it is entirely different bowl of wax to be PRESIDENTIAL. PRESIDENTIAL. Ordinary South Africans hardly obtain credit facility for business development. When they do, the conditions are such they are choked and strangulated.

Majority South Africans do not understand what owning a business is and how to sustain such. Although a few of them were elevated to positions and glorified as Executives in once ran white establishments, they are more interested in the perks of the office than delivering dividends of democracy for their people. They are quick to celebrate their new houses, vacation trips, cars, etc., but hardly firm speaking up on behalf of persons needing direction to realize their bearing. There is a mild but profound APARTHEID that black South Africans have hoisted upon themselves. Most of them are caught up on sense of loss/depravation, so they want to catch up, endorsing negative culture, “I have mine you go get yours”. Welcome to the black world home and abroad.

Africans love the title and glamor of the office but always fall short making positive difference using the power and influence of their office to elevate condition for their people.

The tension among black peoples of Africa will continue as the world image of Africans, sub-Saharan ones is that of CRY BABIES and or BABIES with flies on their face unable to do something to stop the flies from coming. If as a people the issues of 21st century are just as the issues during colonial and slavery periods, in the presence of civil rights and independent nations; but very dependent, then we got lemon. But again, when given lemon one ought to make lemonade. It begs the question Africans and her cousins: What are the excuses?

The Malawian and Congolese government have reportedly stopped all South Africans from entering their country following the recent Xenophobic attacks where a few of their citizens were killed and their businesses destroyed.

The Malawian government has also allegedly thrown South African ambassador out of their country. There are also reports that Mozambican government has barred all trucks from South Africa from entering into their country.

Right! And increase the ever-growing unemployment levels. Boycotting all the mentioned company will strongly affect Nigeria than South Africa.

The better option will be to remove Nigerians from south Africa. This is the best we can do. Our government has refused to invest/aide our local business. We are stuck here.

Thats why we should nationalize it and resell it to Nigerians

If all countries in Africa can reciprocate this gesture the Malawi and Congolese government have taken, then it will surely make the South African government sit up and reign in their lazy, xenophobic, cowardly citizen.

Msheeeeeeeww!!

Well, they need to evacuate all their people first before doing all this drama. There's no use of barring us off with their people still breathing down our necks. They act as if they care about their people's safety while they don't, if they did they would not start by barring us while their people are still at risk of being attacked. Ego issues at play, really!

So I hope even Nigeria will evacuate all their people first not leaving a single soul then they can do all this gra gra!

This is just what some forces want to naturally happen. What will Africa gain if they are at war with each other. In destroying or sending away SA companies in Nigeria do u av alternatives dat will stay in dia place. Can't. U guys get it. 'A house divided in itself can never stand' use ur wisdom and know dat dis is nt d way to go. U can insult me for typing dis, but I will always say d truth. Xenophobic behaviour is nt good but there's a saying, 'an eye for an eye will make d world go blind. Why can't we as Africans rise above hate and heal all broken ties. I strongly believe Africa will be great again.
