Could that be because you don't want to declare yours. Why not declare yours lets see how effective it will be in curtailing your "corruptive tendencies"

A lot of Nigerian are going to be disappointed with the new government.
Personally I think Pdp, Apc and them other political parties are all the same. Same mindset, different platforms.

Lol..better put, "Saraki defends himself, says asset declaration can't stop corruption"...This is because his hands are not clean.

Saraki needs to be told that there is no way corruption can be stopped totally. It can only be reduced drastically. And if he has no skeleton in his cupboard, he shld shut d fvck up and support buhari's asset declaration idea and other reasonable ideas that may come up subsequently..its too early to be having conflicting ideas.

But Buhari told Nigerians that he will eradicate the menace totally from our land.

We are watching

All public officials are mandated to declare their assets.

There's no way you can be an appointed or elected government official without declaring your assets.

The contention is the PUBLIC DECLARATION started by late President Yaradua.

But has anyone bothered to assess Yaradua's assets before and after that POLITICAL DECLARATION?

Those of you above saying a President cannot stop corruption, it is too late for that.
Buhari must eliminate corruption, that is what we were promised.

God bless you! He even said he will build 20.000 megawatts of electricity within one year from the proceeds of corrupt linkages.

Declaring assets does not mean jack sh1t. Ever heard of the cayman islands? There are a 1000 ways to funnel money out of the country. The way to reduce corruption is to have a constant monitoring body and making one or two people scape goats. In America there are people still on the most wanted list since 1970. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking why would the FBI still be looking for someone since 1970? The reason they are looking is the same reason why crime and corruption is relatively low; criminals know that if you commit a crime, no matter how long it takes or how far you run, the system will catch up with you. Recently they just apprehended a guy whose been on the run since 1980. Criminals are too comfortable committing crimes in Nigeria, because they know there is little or no chance of being caught. Take apprehension and adjudication seriously and crimes, both financial and otherwise, will reduce.

Its nothing new , declaring assets does not stop or control corruption in anyway...

Controlling corruption is a lifetime process, it never ends, its a human thing ...

One step before another, let's starts first with public declaration of assets, this will ensure that criminals(especially politicians, former governors, senators,et) will not participate in the government.

Sweetguy25:
When Nigerians say a president should stop corruption, what do they mean anyway?

Is it corruption in the Judiciary, legislature or the executive arm of the federal government?
Is it the corruption in the local government council administrations or state governments?
Is it the corruption in churches?
Is it the corruption that has infested the psyche of almost every nigerian above the age of 12?

grin grin

Nigerians are big hypocrites. In fact, we are the biggest hypocrites in Africa. This country is a joke

A better and simpler definition of corruption is: what the other man is doing. People look for lightning rods to vent their frustrations when the other man is getting what the other man has. You will soon see a new set of anti-corruption crusaders emerge from the evicted party while the ruling party will play defence till 2019.

we know one cannot destroy corruption but you can reduce it so much I probably accounts for less than 1% nation wide. if you strengthen democratic institutions and ban appointments by federal character, rotational leadership and judicial executions for corrupt officials, you would have solved 50% of Nigeria's core problems. the remaining rests on the shoulders of patriots who will seat at various agencies and social and civic bodies to ensure the enshrinement of democracy and the rule of law reigns supreme.

what GMB must do is make salary records of public officials available to the public who voted them there in the first place. how can you hide such when you are a public servant. I am beginning to lose hope even before May29
