President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his government will recover much of the monies looted from the treasuries of Nigeria with an initiative he will put in place.

Buhari said by the time the government he will be heading will settle down and his anti-corruption programme is unveiled, those who stole blindly from the government coffers would cough what they stole.

Buhari made this known in Daura recently when responding to entreaties from supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who urged him not to take the war against corruption with levity.

One of the APC top members who was in attendance at the brief meeting in Daura said the President-elect was optimistic that those who stole from the governments of Nigeria in all tiers will voluntarily return what they stole.

He said Buhari was of the view that while he would not go all out to initiate a process to jail looters of the treasury, anyone who failed to co-operate with measures to be put in place for recovery of looted funds will have to face the music.

Newspot Nigeria learnt that Buhari had will set up a committee to probe the amount of monies generated by the Nigerian government in the past two years with a view to determining how much had been misappropriated within the period.

The Committee, it was learnt, will after the probe compile the list of government officials suspected to have misappropriated the funds put in their care for different projects while in office.

that will be a very good start up point which will also serve as a deterrent to anyone who aspires to do such. it won't be business as usual I believe.

Please...the president irrespective of political affiliation cannot repeat cannot be "the police, the judge and jury". at the same time in a democratic setting.

The least the president can do is tighten all the loop holes to make it harder for corrupt activities to occur. And a good area to look into is deployment of IT technology and political restructure of the country.
