Jonathan lost because he was weak. Patience wouldn't even lose an election against Buhari if she was president.

GEJ messed up big time. He wanted to give free and fair elections to Nigerians and this is where it landed him.
So, allowing free and fair elections is bad? You are an example of how backward people think

“The strides made in the economic sphere, especially domestic rice promotion, calculated by the Jonathan administration to flip economic growth, and boost import substitution, also negatively alerted the West. The shift to China for our railway transformation, and recently, the migration to Russia for arms and ammunition to quelling the insurgency also signalled to the West that Jonathan had started constituting a self-reliant and dependent nation-state, a feat seen too tall by the US and their allies in the West.
This is nonsense.

I thought they were egging her on before; this is why sycophancy is not good. What cowards, they couldn't tell her and the husband the truth before, it is now that they lost thay they are lamenting. By the way this is not all on Patience, PDP and Jonathan collectively FAILED Nigerians. In reality Patience was just the salt on the injury.

Reminds me of the biblical Samson and Delilah....... shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

In my opinion, Jonathan failed because of Dame's incessant abuses directed at Buhari and the North generally, her open quarrel with Amaechi, his tolerance of corrupt elements, his abusive, politically unprofessional media team of okupe, abati, including the reckless fani kayode, international conspiracy, unbriddled patronage of churches, mosques, militant leaders and traditional leaders, reckless spending of dollars particularly in south west, poor power supply, insincere aides, promoting impunity as in governors forum 16 greater than 19 and ekiti saga, lack of monitoring of Jega and attempting to take Lagos by force.

I almost stopped reading the article after this statement. "On the international level, the passage of the anti-gay legislation led to criticisms and face-off with the US, and the West." What is this Osom Makbere smoking? Does he think the west believe Buhari will be less inclined to pass the anti-gay bill or work to repeal it?

This statement took the cake. "The migration to Russia for arms and ammunition to quelling the insurgency also signalled to the West that Jonathan had started constituting a self-reliant and dependent nation-state, a feat seen too tall by the US and their allies in the West." These people cannot even get chronology of events straight. For your information Osom Makbere US stopped the sales of ammunition before Jonathan looked east. When people like you are in position of authority in any organization, the bottom is very close. No wonder the election was lost. People like you that cannot do simple deductive reasoning or analysis are part of the reason.

The problem of PDP is multifaceted. madam peace is just one reason, the monstrous corruption is the major reason.

Fani kayode also played a good role in the defeat of PDP. He attacked Buhari so much that people began to develop interest in the Buhari's candidacy. Another person whose frequent attacks on Buhari in Daily Vanguard was a blessing to the APC, is femi aribisala, Fayose etc. All of these are culpable including non performance.

The West had no hand in Jonathan's fall. So scratch off those from your list. As for Patience Jonathan she bears 10% of the blame. The other 90% why Jonathan failed are as follows:
Boko Haram mess (Chibok girls, 10,000 Nigerians killed) - 20% , Condoning corruption - 20% , Pardoning corrupt persons - 5% , Allowing massive decamping of PDP members - 10% , Negative campaigning against Buhari - 10% , Camapaigning along Ethnic and Religious line - 10% , Performance in Office (He actually did well, but couldnt sell himself) - 5% , Image (as a weakling, clueless and non-chalant) - 10

Who is this barbarian talking thrash here? Rubbish boy.

if he didn't concede defeat it would simply result into a 2nd civil war which he & his supporters cannot win as he may end up losing his life or ending up in jail not to talk of what will happen to the South South & their tribalist supporter from that other region. All his people keep saying is we are hard or well armed not knowing that militancy is nothing when it comes all out war; except you think war is child's play? If you people think so, a go at it will definitely convince you people. You people can sit him down & ask him why he conceded defeat & he will tell you that he had to save the lives of over a million people 98% of who will be from his side but I am proud of him as he is seen & highly respected by me & I believe the world see him a world leader now. All the western Europe, America, south west & the north conspired against him is pure propaganda as the man lost due to lack of performance, his wife over bearing attitude, his people also threatening the south west with war, fighting Amechi who was wronged by patience Jonathan & finally playing the ethnic card.

People make choices for different reasons but a good swathe of the support Buhari received were from people who were not happy with the way the country was run, the election was a referendum on Jonathan and PDP. On the other hand you have people like Asari and co who agreed the country was not being run well, but still chose to continue supporting the status quo regardless. I know who I would see as patriotic among the two groups. Would not be too surprised if there were some irregularities in states Buhari won, but it was in the Niger Delta that you had the violence and deaths, and that says a lot.

With regards to your last point, I think if you feel we have to thank Jonathan for not using the full power of the state to rig his way into power (which he did try), then you are simply making the case for why we should all be relieved that PDP and Jonathan lost, and yes that position is unpatriotic.

"Thank you PDP for not taking much more lives than you could have taken or using the fuller extent of the state to rig your way into power against the overwhelming will of the people for change, you deserve a Nobel Peace Prize for that".

Some people are unbelievable.
You are yet to make a point. Stop being sentimental for all I see all over your write up is a lopsided argument! What I saw play out in the last election was politics(interest). The interest(don't forget it's personal before public interest in Nigeria) favoured Buhari instead. Talk of irregularities, both Parties know how to do it very well.

Jonathan failed because he failed Nigerians.it was too shallow minded not to fight corruption but rather grant presintial pardon to currupt politicians.
As the leader of the PDP, he sat and watched five governors decamp in one day and all he and the big wigs in PDP could say was that they (Decamped Gov) will not survive in opposition. some leaders in PDP went as far to tell Nigerians that if the APC survived up till Dec. 2014, they should be called basterd. This shows high level of arrogance.
As the leader of PDP he choosed to aligned himself with people like FFK. Fayose, Okupe etc who saw insult as the best strategy for campaighn.
His politics on the war against Bokoharam. why did he allow so many Nigerians to die before realising that he can fight Bokoharam in 6 weeks?
There are over 20 reasons why GEJ failed. It has nothing to do with the weat and passage of anti-gay bill

. Are u ok at all? Is that d way forward for Nigeria? The pple are simply tired impunity and corruption. For any country to move forward there has to be sacrifices and this is one of them. Let's try dis APC, If they fail to perform, we can still vote them out next 4 yrs, even Obama's party was an opposition party.

With card readers and voter accreditation, it is no longer possible for "Massive" rigging.

If GEJ wanted that, he should have banned the use of card readers and no one would know the true total number of accredited voters.

He and his party tried to discredit the card reader! He doesn't have the power to ban it.

“The President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, is an incorruptible man. So, for anybody to say that
APC will perform worse than the PDP is a child’s
talk, mere campaign of calumny and propaganda.

when the head is bad.... what can the whole body do.
during PDP era the head was corrupt and this transcend to the whole body
but this can't be said of Buhari because the head is incorruptible and it will flow to the whole body......

so the postulation by this man is false and fallacy

When the president had married an area girl from ph who trained him in the school and who was a street trader in ph and to crown it all an illiterate woman. What do you expect from her as a woman in charge of her husband. A failure who does not know how to express herself in english language . A useless woman. She actually contributed to the fall of jonathan and the PDP
