What Major Okafor? The only Maj. Okafor (Donatus) I know never witnessed the war. He was among the coupists of January 15 1966, who was brought out of the Abeokuta prison by angry northern soldiers on July 28 1966 and buried alive, during the mutiny in Abeokuta.
MAJOR DONATUS OKAFAR was among the fallen heros. He is from a Village named: Amizi in Ikwunano Local
Government, Umuahia, Biafra

This shows you don't read or maybe you're just trying to provoke readers uneccessarily. Awo's Legacy of socialism is like Awo himself living among the westerners. I am saying this cos i benefited whilst am not a yoruba, Can your Igbo counterparts do same or have they? All they know is the OYO(on your own) syndrome living with what OJUKWU stood for till date, i regard this on the part of Ndigbos as being intellectually, creativly and psychologically weak.

yes, they lack intelligence, we just sit and watch them cos we know we dont like gra gra , there are many ways to kill a bull even thou you can not withstand it ....it require intelligence and they lack that, thats why we called them the chest beaters...

[s]Haha...ibos believe anything! This man might have sown the seed of another mega defeat for chest beaters who would rather walk into their death trap on a whiff of emotion rather than consult their common sense!

So, don't you have sense to see that while the Yoruba commander defeated thousands of ibos with 179 soldiers and average armament, he had 1,000,000,000,000+ more of strategy to it, took the right decisions in the heat of the moment and defeated the entire BeastaFra expedition! He defended the most critical point of weakness and I can bet you all the retreating soldiers would have been completely annihilated if they continued to assault the bridge.

Take a lesson from that and the battle of the 300 at Thermopylae, at that narrow pass where King Leonidas caused Persian King Xerxes' perhaps 100,000 strong troops to be crushed on their shields and spears! Watch how Leonidas says the strategy was to be funnelled into the narrow pass? There their numbers counted for nothing, their superior weapons counted for nothing and waves and waves of Persian soldiers to be destroyed! That is the stuff military strategists are made of, not empty boasting! Even Colonel Iluyomade provided more leadership, won more territories and destroyed more enemy soldiers than runaway Onujukwu himself, the war monger!

Na wah, so 179 Nigerian soldiers led by another Yoruba Commander Colonel Iluyomade set up base 40 miles away from Ore village, right on the extreme outskirts of Yorubaland and destroyed thousands of enemy soldiers and sent them back running and empty handed in the thick of midnight, under heavy rains! Ibos should be very grateful to Yorubas and they must know it because on that night, the Nigerian soldiers led by this illustrious Yoruba son and commander could have pursued and ensured no ibo escaped and destroyed them all! Kudos to the greatest soldiers and commanders in Nigeria, who still allow the milk of human compassion to flow in their veins when their enemy is at the end of their sword and barrel of their gun.

Even, I would guess that God will look down in kindness on such a people who did not shed the blood of ibo soldiers when they could have! The same thing David could have done to Saul, but he saw beyond the moment and emotion!

God bless the Yorubas indeed and much more forever!!![/s]
rubbish.try harder.

Islam was brought to Yorubas by the 'Songhai Empire' through trade more than 500years ago, during this period some fulanis didn't even know anything about Islam. So go and bath with acid! grin

You're going down the road of fantasies. No one has the monopoly of violence and to begin chit chat and chest beat over who would win an imaginary war is at best childish.

War is not a new trade to Yoruba, ask the fulani about the Osogbo war and Jalumi war.

Ask Ojukwu about Benjamin Adekunle, Iluyomade, Alabi Isama and the sage awolowo.

Brev, I've never heard about the Jalumi war.

Can you please open a thread about it, to educate us?

You're the real mumu. Isn't deception part of military tactics. Why then did the foolish biafran soldiers fall for the trick, got defeated and retreated if not that it was skillfully planned and executed.

Military strength isn't always about numbers and brute strength or weapons. You need brilliant commanders and soldiers to execute a perfect plan. Goto the Bible and read up on Gideon and his 300 men

You lot are the architects of ya own misfortunes. You run ya mouths, while chest-beating all over cyberspace. But when the Oba and Dr. Abraham Ariyo start spitting fire-balls like Alaafin Shango the Yoruba Kintaro now - you'll start crying all over the internet, running to ICC, shouting genocide, and filling petitions everywhere about how Yorubas hate you and Igbophobia.

Anyway, no serious minded person takes Igbos seriously anymore. grin You honestly can take folks like that seriously - the only thing you can just do is expect them to issue more useless ultimatums. grin

Y1bos are too inconsequential and lacks strategy and wisdom for us to be wasting our acquired and inherited war knowledge and strategy, tested and trusted, passed down to us by our forefathers.

Just 129 Spartan-like yorubas, defeated your rag-tag Biafra bandits army.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the folks from ancient Sparta were actually part of the migration wave that became today's Yorubas. The real Spartans were black - ancient Greece wasn't fully caucasoid. Some were caucasoids while the rest were blacks. grin

I doff my hat to Yoruba warriors - without them, the war would have turned out differently.

The Biafran soldiers moved towards the West because Lagos was Nigeria's capital and the war was being planned and prosecuted from there. The aim was to capture Lagos from the Northerners and secure the state thereafter launch an offensive up north.

It was not about annexing Lagos or the West like most Yorubas think today.

They don't know. they don't even want to know.

How do you expect hamlet square warriors, fighting over Ngozi or Ada, to have a Spartan-like attitude, skill, strategy, wit and mentality.

That is why they could be facing T72 tanks with cassava sticks.

Did you read the write up at all? The Biafran soldiers thought that Ore was heavily enforced that is why they did not move beyond that bridge, if they had know that just 129 soldiers were there they would have easily overrun them and head straight for Lagos which was the target.

I laugh hard at the bold part, go and read about Major Okafor and how he completely destroyed Nigerian army second division during the war. We had a lot going against us then that is why we lost the war. If we had just a quarter of the weapons you guys had the outcome would have been different.

Which war did adekunle fight? He was busy shooting women & children within the outskirts of Biafra while the man went forward under Etuk. Do you know that Biafran forces destroyed one-third of adekunle's 3rd marine commando even before he could start operation OAU?

Obasanjo himself took a shot in the arse at some point when he had to flee battle.dressed

We all have senses of history. Stop feeding yourself with lies here. It was adekunle and his men that took port Harcourt from the tolo soldiers. The biafrans were so scared and were busy fleeing for dear life that they left many of their guns, government effects, foreign currencies, and barrels of oil in port Harcourt for the Nigeria army to capture. Adekunle was not busy killing women and children; he was busy killing flaaaatheads dressed as soldiers. Except you are saying Biafra men were so weak that they left their women to dress up as soldiers to defend Biafra.

Where were the men when the women and children were being killed? Probably off to Abidjan or Cameroon too, like their sissy bandit war lord?

Or

Was it the women and children that were fighting the war, while their cowardly men were busy hiding?
