EXCLUSIVE: Where's the bolt that 'killed Freddie Gray'? Standard-issue police van has SMOOTH cage doors, raising questions over leaked report that says fall in paddy wagon caused catastrophic injury.

The police van in which Freddie Gray supposedly sustained his fatal injuries does not come with a bolt sticking out from the back door, Chevrolet has confirmed. Designs from the car maker show that the Chevrolet Express the vehicle used by the Baltimore Police Department is smooth on the inside of both cage doors. Chevrolet spokesman Michael Albano confirmed to Daily Mail Online that the standard issue Chevrolet Express Police Transport Van has bolts that are built into the door and don't stick out. Mr Albano said that law enforcement agencies are known to customise their own vehicles and that the Baltimore Police Department may have done so to their fleet. The development raises a number of questions about the official account put out by the force which emerged today in a report of its internal investigation into Gray's death.

▶ Pictured above is the Chevrolet Expresspolice van, the vehicle used by Baltimore Police to move around prisoners.

▶ No bolts? The design of the standard van does not seemto show anything for Gray to have hit his head on.

▶ Inside: This is what the Baltimore van looks like inside Gray was held in the right hand side.

▶ According to the latest police press conference, these are the stops the van made transporting Freddie Gray.

From NYC.

▶ Gray's death last week, believed to have been caused by injuries sustained in police custody, has sparked protests not only in Baltimore but across the nation. Above, a protester holds up a sign in New York's Union Square during a demonstration there on Wednesday.

▶ Stay put: As the large group gathered in New York Wednesday evening, police were heard warning the crowds that they could be arrested if they decided to take their demonstration to the streets.

▶ The city of Baltimore is currently under a mandatory 10pm to 5am curfew. Many protesters in the crowds on Wednesday said they would be heeding the curfew and disbanding after nightfall.

'I'm out here tonight because change has to happen,' Maryland resident Sherita Sweeney, 30, told theWashington Post. 'Sitting behind your laptop, tablet or cellphone complaining - you're part of the problem, not the solution.'In downtown Indianapolis, more than two dozen protesters marched around Monument Circle chanting 'no racist police' and carrying signs with slogans that included 'I'm not scared of the apocalypse. I'm scared of a copalypse.'Several dozen people have demonstrated at a busy Houston intersection to protest the death of a black man inthe custody of Baltimore police. About 50 people gathered Wednesday evening at the intersection near the south Houston campus of historically black Texas Southern University. Some were holding placards bearing such slogans as 'Honk For Justice' and 'America's Worst Nightmare.'The protesters were outnumbered by the police presence that included officers mounted on horse back and flying overhead in a helicopter. An ambulance and a bus were on standby.

▶ At one point protesters lay in the street as part of a 'die-in' at Herald Square in New York last night. Several hundred gathered in the city as part of demonstrations held in the name of Freddie Gray.

▶ Demonstrators snarled traffic as they tried to block the Holland Tunnel, one of the busiest tunnels out of the cityto New Jersey under the Hudson River.

▶ Making a point: There were angry scenes as protesters confronted police officers during the demonstration in Manhattan last night.

▶ A female protester yells at police during the New York City demonstrations last night. More than 120 people are understood to have been arrested.
