The solution is not just subsidy removal. have you asked yourself why on earth a nation who is the 6th or is it 9th biggest producer of crude oil has to import refined oil to meet her local needs? You really need to open your eyes. The refineries are deliberately kept in a comatose state operating at about 17% plant efficiency. No one is talking about building refineries. with the exception of Dangote in very recently. The bottomline is corruption. That is part of the numerous evils PDP has wreaked on nigerians. And that is part of the urgent to do tasks before the new regime.

Remove subsidy, individuals will start building refineries.

Govt under GEJ don't want govt investment in oil biz again due to corrupt.

We youths should advocate for oil free market not government building refineries that will still breed corruption just like NNPC.

"...then we paid N56bn interest rate and some remaining exchange rate differentials."

What a joke of a country, and a totally incompetent government.

Where were they when this humongous interest was accumulating. Imagine how many primary schools we can build with N56bn.

Soludo told us this woman was in the administrative dept at the World Bank and was not a world bank economist. Now we know.

see let's stop this subsidy issue, first prof. Tam David-west did challenge them to a debate then did they agree?? secondly I remember sanusi speaking from two mouth about the subsidy. for a sane govt what they should have done is looked for a lasting solution, and the best was to get the refineries functional to full capacity by so we would have even made money from exporting refined products, just check the price of transportation now that fuel increased cause of scarcity, do you consider the effect it would have caused on price of goods if petrol was to sell for 140/lit till now?? do you consider the suffering the masses would be now. lastly let's be honest if there is stable power and you remove subsidy it will not affect people that much, but imagine you will buy fuel to run your gen, fuel your car and other things, guy check am out its nit reasonable

Remove subsidy, individuals will start building refineries here.

How i wish oil subsidy removal was successful in 2012, with the fall in international oil price, those cartels will be competing for market space thereby affecting the possibility of slash in oil price in Nigeria rather them creating artificial oil scarcity to punish us the lower citizens the more

lol...ok bros,First off,I feel your heart-ache.The people indicted with subsidy frauds are walking about scot-free.Under whose watch? The billions in debt owed the oil marketers rightfully or wrongly is all a product of the incumbent. No need to shift the brunt of correcting a tanking economy on GMB.Everything started with subsidy scam.

This madam is very funny, for six years what did she and her boss do, the persons that were indicted in subsidy fraud how many did they prosecute ?? now the floor is open , let the TANIOD come and defend her

Ngozi for the many years you were in charge of Finance, I dont remember you speaking out in his this manner about existence of a constructive oil cartel. Did you give this kind of warning at anytime to the outbgoing President? If you did and nothing was done, then executive weakness is further confirmed, BUT if you did not, you are culpable of collosal national disservice and breach of trust and honor.

Just recall your brain that she was the Chief archite for total fuel subsidy removal which was countered by the oil cartel sponsored protests, then she back down

Therefore she tried to quench it buh faith had its way...
check this out In the last seven years, Nigeria may have spent more than this year’s budget of N4.987 trillion on fuel subsidies, BusinessDay’s analysis of figures on fuelsubsidies from 2006 to 2012, has shown. In 2006, subsidy cost on petrol was N151.9 billion (bn), N188 bn in 2007, N256.3 bn in 2008 (from January to July); in 2009, N421.5 bn was spent, N673 bn in 2010, and N1.3 trillion spent in 2011 was revised up to 2.19 by the Ministry of Finance, after arrears were paid in 2012 for PMS consumption in 2011. what's you opinion about this

My opinion is total oil subsidy removal, those nonsense figures and dates will cease to exist.

They should subsidize any other services but the major source of income for Nigeria economy (oil) should no no cus there are bound to be malpractice even by the government in power through the loopholes of subsidy which must exist no matter any policy to checkmate the act

GEJ promised to build or rather make our refineries working 24 months after the 2012 subsidy crisis but today how many of them are working instead of throwing the people into suffering the govt can borrow money, repair the refineries then can raise money from the refined products to pay back its as easy as that if the govt has the masses at hand
is quit unfortunate....we have a scam and weak Government...
