As you can see in this photo, President Jonathan was using the YouWin programme as a bait for Nigerians to support his collapsing fraudulent empire. Only 1,500 people were benefitting annually out of millions of Nigerians yet the president was using it to boast of meaningful job creation. The programme was supposed to continue this year, at least for the last time since his government was ending, but instead, they kept postponing it till after the election and since then, nobody has even updated the website. I know some people who voted him in anticipation that the programme will benefit them. Pity!

The president has instead embarked on last minute appointments and "share remaining political offices" before he leaves on May 29.

When you're told that Jonathan loves the cabals more than he loves Nigerians, believe it!

Real scam!

Mediocrity is when your allow an innate and obscure idiocy to diffuse out to the public intentionally via ill thought deductions.

The YOUWIN has always shifted their deadline date to accommodate more business plan submission from aspiring awardees.

That programme is capable of raising the next Dangotes and Adenugas if the beneficiaries make judicious use of their merited privileges.

Only myopic, lazy and dumb fools castigate YOUWIN for their clear inefficiencies in putting up sound business ideas that can create wealth.

Actually, mediocrity is when you approve of senselessness as superior reason because you think the best you can offer is foolishness.

Now that you attacked the issue, I'll answer you objectively. You're entitled to your opinion. I find it rather unacceptable that the president budgeted only N15 billion Naira for the programme when we were paying N2.5 trillion naira to subsidy cabals comfortably. Who was fooling who? Youwin was just a lottery if you ask me, the real empowerment should benefit at least 50,000 Entrepreneurs to be considered a meaningful job creation programme

You simply lack the intellect to engage in this discourse, N50 billion naira and not 15 billion was budgeted for YOUWIN. And calling it a lottery further exposed your ignorance cos YOUWIN is strictly merit based. The word "Lottery" shouldn't even suffice in this discussion.

The subsidy cabal you mentioned were empowered by ignorant people like you who went protesting on their behalf when GEJ decided to remove fuel subsidy. Men like us who had foresight on the benefits of such a daring move supported it against the odds. To further compound your problem, failure to pay such humongous amount will lead to wailings and gnashing of teeth as currently evident in most states of the Federation.

Now back to the topic of discourse, those awardees are capable of sparking up the SME sector if their current growth rate is sustained and improved upon, empowering fully 1000 people is greater than giving meager amount to 100,000 people who won't be even able to feed properly in a day.

Huge numbers doesn't necessarily translate to impact . . . . . YOUWIN awardees are growing and providing jobs. Don't fault their success on issues that borders on your "mediocre" entrepreneurship antecedents . . . . .

You're too angry to have an objective discussion with your display of arrogance and lack of reason.

To the topic, personally I support removal of subsidy, but not by a government who cannot fight the corruption in the sector. If you remove subsidy without fighting corruption in NNPC and the ports, you end up creating artificial scarcity because importers will hoard the product so the pice can go up before they sell, and you end up plunging the nation into crisis.

On the Youwin programme, yes it's a lottery. Even with a good business plan, you could still not qualify because only 1,500 have to be selected out of 6,000 finalists. And I wasn't talking about a welfare package, 50,000 entrepreneurs can be empowered with 10million naira each, yes that's just 25% of what the government was paying subsidy cabals and nothing happened. By the way, I never supported that money being a grant, this is a support programme and the money should be in form of a repayable long term credit facility, like on a 20-year repayment plan. Any serious business entrepreneur would even want to take a Loan for his business, but since Nigerians were not getting business loans without collateral, this should be a way of giving them non-collateral interest-free credit facility for viable businesses.

What you call anger is simply disgust seeing this trash content in the thread. Everybody now supports fuel subsidy removal after their thick scales has taken leave off their eyes, I will give you the benefit of doubt for now.

The fight against corruption in the sector was supposed to start with fuel subsidy removal, removing that sleeze was the first major step in getting our petroleum sector up and doing. The fuel marketers may deploy hoarding in the short term but that will fizzle out if the competition makes fuel available, infact they will be killing their enterprise doing that unlike the current template where they are lords where their financial risks are adequately covered by the state.

Insisting that it is a lottery is a joke, 1,500 to be choosing out of 6,000 entries on merit can't be classified as a lottery. the best 1,500 was choosing in a population of 6,000 with a biased emphasis on "merit". Lottery has to do with random selection which YOUWIN is clearly not.

You do have a salient point in your 20 year long term loan approach but the instability in our political clime will hinder that approach, since we don't have a fool proof and self sustaining system of governance independent of regime change. When our democracy has matured to the level where regime change doesn't automatically equate to policy change, your idea will be the best feasible route to take and for self sustainability of the scheme.

The 2.5 trillion you keep touting is just an exaggerated and alarmist stance. Moreover, that amount was spent servicing tens of million of Nigerians and not just 50,000. Nigeria is not an ultra rich country and we don't have the billions to engage in grandiose schemes when we have about 8,000 abandoned infrastructural deficit that requires trillions of naira to solve. The current YOUWIN template has a maximum of N10M but not all recipients receives that amount, your business niche and ideas determines what you get.

It takes will to fight corruption, it's not something you play with kid gloves, moreover the outgoing president was even defending it as if it didn't exist, and by the way they kept blaming former opposition for everything, even petrol scarcity. Chai! Cluelessness is a disease.

Well, I still maintain my stance, if at least 50,000 were not able to benefit from the program, then it was a joke to be called an employment scheme, or better still, a bait to earn the support of Nigerians for another 4 year corruption empire rule.

Come to think of it, 15 billion was budgeted for the programme annually, while we were spending 2.5 trillion paying cabals. If you don't believe subsidy was a scam, then you didn't follow events where the ex-CBN governor explained how it worked. You can check some of my earlier topics on the issue.

Your stance is not the law, the scheme was set out to focus on a highly skilled few with impressive business plans, and so far, they have been keeping to the terms of reference guiding the scheme.

So your insistence of 50,000 or nothing is is weak and baseless cos someone else will say, 100,000 or nothing e.t.c.

Again, your 2.5 trillion assertion is a fraud, I did like you to show me where the FG paid 2.5 trillion to fuel marketers on a yearly basis. Even the huge amount spent on fuel subsidy was enjoyed by several millions of Nigerians , so am wondering what you are straw grasping on.

If you believe fuel subsidy is a scam then why are the fuel marketers holding the nation at the jugular whenever their bills are owed them . . . I don't need to consult any old thread of yours when I see a thought process that doesn't apply logically to real time events.

The youwin grant is meant for entrepreneurs with the most feasible and viable business plans. It is NOT a lottery. If you apply and you were not selected among the finalists, it means that your business plan was not impressive enough and it was deemed to be unfeasible.

You cannot give 10 million naira to fifty thousand entrepreneurs, thats five trillion naira and its above our annual budget. Giving such an amount will cause inflation.

It's N500 billion actually, not N5 trillion, it's very feasible. As long as it's not a grant. Some developed countries give this in form of credit to their citizens as a social security benefit. Serious people will succeed when given opportunity
