EXCLUSIVE: EGYPT DISTRIBUTE FIRE CRACKERS TO FANS FOR EAGLES GAME

As part of their plans to intimidate the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the Borg El-Arab Stadium, Egypt are giving out firecrackers to fans who buy ticket for the game.

Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent who is in Egypt reports the firecrackers are giving out to fans under the guise of it will be used to celebrate if they beat Nigeria and qualify for the AFCON for the first time in six years.

Firecrackers are a common feature in Egyptian football but was outlawed by the country’s government after so many stadium incidents but the practice is still going on in patches.

Our correspondent also reveal that despite plans to put in place tight security measures for the game, the Egyptians are hell bent on intimidating the Eagles further after claiming they were intimidated in Kaduna during the reverse tie.

As part of their strategy the interior ministry of Egypt has expressly giving approval to 40,000 fans to be at the Stadium as oppose to the earlier approved 30,000 to match the atmosphere witnessed at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium five days ago in Kaduna, Nigeria.

MIKEL: SUPER EAGLES CHIEF MOTIVATOR AHEAD EGYPT CLASH

As Nigeria gear up to take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in today must win Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers captain of the team John Obi Mikel has been rallying the players to go all out and get the job done.

27 year old Mikel has featured in so many games of this nature where his team needed to win to progress and he is using his wealth of experience for club and country to inspire his teammates.

Last night the Chelsea man had a meeting with the players where he reminded them of their responsibility not to win for the sake of their careers but for millions of Nigeria who view them as their last source of joy.

“Mikel is a wonderful personel to have in the team, the boys will tell you better he is more than a captain he has succeeded in lifting the morales of the players which was deflated after the draw with Egypt” a team source told owngoalnigeria.com.

“For the first time we don’t have disagreement in camp thanks to Mikel who stopped the idea of cliques among the players by ensuring everybody comes out at same time for team event.

“Aside that the concept of senior players has been squashed by Mikel all player are equal and the respect and orderliness we have in camp now is mutual not forced as in the past”.

Simon, Omeruo: Super Eagles Victory Possible In Alexandria

Gent forward Moses Simon is looking to divine intervention ahead of the Super Eagles’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.

The Eagles face a make-or-break clash against Egypt in Alexandria this evening.

A win for Egypt will cement their place at next year’s AFCON in Gabon, while a draw will also be in the Pharaohs’ favour.

Ahead of the big tie, Simon, who featured in the first leg in Kaduna, stated that the Eagles will give their all against Egypt.

“Game day, team spirit, fight to survive. Everything is possible with God,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, injured defender Kenneth Omeruo has expressed optimism that the Eagles can secure the three points against Egypt.

Omeruo was initially listed in the invited foreign-based players by coach Samson Siasia for the double header before sustaining an injury.

He wrote on his Twitter handle: ” Come on guys, game day. We can do it. Good luck.”

Iheanacho Ahead Of Egypt Clash: Come On, Eagles!

By James Agberebi:

Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has charged the Super Eagles to go for the win against Egypt in Tuesday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Alexandria.

Iheanacho was in action for the Eagles in the first leg that ended 1-1 in Kaduna on Friday.

The 19-year-old whose shot rebounded off the bar and led to the Eagles goal by Oghenekaro Etebo, was later substituted in the encounter.

Commenting ahead of the big clash, Iheanacho said the Eagles are good to go.

He wrote on his Twitter handle hours before the match: “Team walk today, getting ready for the game. Come on Eagles!”

Along with the tweet, Iheanacho posted a selfie of himself and Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi.

A win for the Eagles will see them topple Egypt as Group G leaders.

Loscuito Backs Eagles Against Egypt, Won’t Rule Out Tanzania

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Super Eagles assistant coach Jean Francois Loscuito has urged the Nigerian national side not to relent in their pursuit of a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations ticket.

Samson Siasia leads the Super Eagles out against Egypt in the reverse leg of their AFCON qualifier at the Borg El-Arab Stadium, Alexandria on Tuesday needing a win to stand a chance of qualifying for the tournament in Gabon next year following the withdrawal of Chad from the qualification series from Group G.

Loscuito spoke with Completesportsnigeria.com on his thoughts from the game which kicks off 6pm Nigerian time.

"Most Nigerians that I've spoken with seem to believe that the Super Eagles cannot qualify now after the 1-1 in Kaduna," the Belgian said.

"I do not understand that reaction. Unfortunately there are two games left now with the withdrawal of Chad but I strongly believe Nigeria can win away in Egypt; there is still hope, no problem."

Loscuito stressed that despite not working as assistant coach of the Eagles anymore, he still has the interest of the national team and Nigeria in mind.

"Of course I want Nigeria to defeat Egypt despite not working there anymore. I pray God gives Nigeria victory. I also do not see Tanzania losing to Egypt in both sides' next game," the one-time ASFA Yenanga of Burkina Faso coach told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Loscuito concluded by saying that all players of the Super Eagles are leaders in their own rights and must raise their games when the decisive match starts.

"Mikel Obi may officially be team captain but no matter who is the captain, the most important thing is the victory.

"On such days, we are all captains and must fight 100% for our country," Loscuito admonished.

Egypt Players Promised Big Bonuses, Cars To Beat Eagles

By Adeboye Amosu:

Egypt players have been promised cash rewards and cars by private firms in the country should they beat Nigeria in Tuesday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture, Completesportsnigeria.com has been informed.

The Pharaohs have failed to qualify for the last three editions of AFCON after winning the three previous editions.

A win against the Super Eagles will put the Pharaohs on the brink of qualification for Gabon 2017 following last Friday's 1-1 draw against the same opponents at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Completesportsnigeria.com scooped from a reliable source in Alexandria that businessmen and top firms in the North African country have rallied behind the team to ensure their return to Africa's biggest soccer competition.

"There is massive support for the Pharaohs ahead of the game against Nigeria and they have been promised huge bonuses and cars by businessmen and private firms should they make it to the next AFCON,'' the souce revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com.

"Everyone is looking forward to the Pharaohs qualifying for the AFCON again after the disappointments of missing the last three editions."

The match will kick off at 6pm Nigerian time at the Borg El- Arab Stadium, Alexandria.

Tactically it's a best shot to leave the likes of Iheanacho, Simon, and Iwobi on the Bench! We need super subs who can make immediate impacts when needed, and in the trio we've got it!
We will be here to appreciate the formation and tactics after the 90 mins!

No Ifs, No Buts ! Samson Siasia Admits Nigeria Must Beat Egypt

Super Eagles interim coach Samson Siasia has conceded that his team have no choice but to beat the Pharaohs in front of a minimum of 40,000 fans on Tuesday night.

In Group G of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualification standings, Nigeria are two points off first place, currently occupied by Egypt, meaning they must beat the North Africans at the Borg El-Arab Stadium or be eliminated.

“We know we have no choice but to win, so we will go all out. There is no alternative,” said Samson Siasia on arrival in Alexandria.

“All the players are aware of that fact and whoever gets to play tomorrow will fight very hard for the country.”

Both teams shared the spoils in last week’s game in Kaduna, with Mohamed Salah equalizing for the visitors in stoppage time.

Don’t be afraid Egypt are beatable, Yobo tells Eagles #EGYNGA

Taiwo Adelu

Joseph Yobo

Former captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo, has charged the team not to be afraid of the antics of their Egyptian opponents in Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Alexandria, Cairo.

Nigeria face the Pharaohs in a make or mar encounter having failed to win the first leg of the double header qualifiers in Kaduna on Friday. The game ended 1-1 draw with the Eagles facing a Herculean task of winning the return leg which the Egyptians also need to consolidate their Group G top position.

Yobo charged the Eagles not to be wary of meeting the Egyptians at home, adding that, in football it is not over until it is over.

“I think with the situation on ground now, our team must not panick that they are meeting Egypt at home. They should raise their game. This is football anything can still happen. Nobody can take it away that we could have beaten Egypt at home.

“This is not the time to give up, not until the last whistle on Tuesday. Thank goodness, we have good players and our technical crew are also equal to the task. I want to tell the boys that they can do it,” Yobo said.

For ex-Eagles’ handler, Austin Eguavoen, playing attacking football is the only weapon Nigeria can use to defeat Egypt in Tuesday’s match in Borg El Arab, Alexandria.

While admitting that the game will be tough, Eguavoen told Eagles that they are capable of inspiring a solid performance to stun Egypt.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the technical committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has downplayed the withdrawal of Chad from the AFCON qualifying series as being dangerous for Eagles’ chances to qualify from the group.

The withdrawal of Chad further reduces the chances of the Eagles to qualify as Nigeria now win their remaining two matches. Green said that the Eagles and their coaches are determined and will put their heart in it to ensure qualification is certain.

Etebo holds no fear for Egypt
by George Akpayen

Oghenekaro Etebo © Shengolpixs

Oghenekaro Etebo knows like his Nigeria teammates that they must win in Egypt and he is confident that they can grind out the three points in the Afcon qualifying game on Tuesday.

Nigeria's Super Eagles go head to head with their Egyptian counterparts, the Pharaohs, at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, and Etebo is hopeful they can leave the North African nation with the full points on the back of their impressive play until a late Mohamed Salah cancelled out their lead in Kaduna last Friday.

The 20-year-old scored for Nigeria in the reverse game which ended 1-1 and is keen to help his country to see off the Egyptians especially after the withdrawal of Chad from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications has put them in a must-win situation to put themselves in contention to win their group.

"Yes we are aware (of Chad's withdrawal and how it affects the group)," Etebo told supersport.com. "We know we have to win in Egypt though it will be a difficult game. Egypt too want to win this match. So it will be a tough game but like I said we want to win."

The attacking striker said he has put aside his performance of last Friday and the focus is on Tuesday's game in Alexandria.

"It was good to score in the last game, but that is in the past. Now the concentration is on the next game which is very important. I just want to help the team win," he said to supersport.com.

Etebo, who was named 2015 Africa Most Promising Talent, has scored once in the ongoing Afcon qualification.

Chikatara okays Eagles’ win v Egypt
by Humphrey Njoku

Chisom Chikatara © Shengolpixs

Super Eagles striker, Chisom Chikatara has said the side will defeat the Pharaohs of Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying match on Tuesday at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Eagles were forced to 1-1 draw by the North Africans in the double header first leg clash on Friday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

Chikatara said the characteristic doggedness of typical Nigerian side will see the three-time African champions soar above the Pharaohs right there at their backyard in Alexandria.

“Of course, there is 100% hope of Eagles winning today’s (Tuesday) Afcon qualifying match against the Pharaohs in Alexandria, Egypt.

“Nobody gave Eagles chance against the Egyptians in the first leg encounter on Friday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

“However, Eagles surprised their doubters with the match opener and were on the verge of claiming the entire three points before the last minute mishaps that saw the Egyptians with late equaliser.

“Eagles chance at progressing with a resounding victory is quite bright if not brighter than in the first leg in Kaduna.

“Right now we are facing the wall and a typical Nigerian side are at their very best in such difficult position.

“I strongly believe with determination to leave nothing to chance Eagles will shock the Pharaohs in Alexandria.

“The encounter is certain to be tough for both sides but more on the Egyptians who will be under intense pressure playing before their teeming supporters.

“The situation will greatly be in Nigeria’s advantage to apply the killer punch on the Egyptians,” said the Abia Warriors marksman to supersport.com.

Egypt still lead Group G on four points with the withdrawal of Chad from the Afcon campaign with Nigeria trailing on two points and Tanzania on one point with a game to spare for the sides.

Only the group winners are guaranteed an automatic spot for the 2017 Afcon final in West African state, Gabon.

EXCLUSIVE | NFF vice-president: Foreign coach not our priority
By Marwan Ahmed

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) vice-president Shehu Dikko discussed the NFF plans and strategies for the head coach position and spoke about the Super Eagles’ priorities ahead of their upcoming clash against Egypt.

Dikko spoke about Samson Siasia’s chances to remain as the Super Eagles’ head coach after Egypt clash. He revealed that their decision regarding Siasia’s future with the national team wouldn’t depend solely on the result of the Pharaohs encounter.

“His present position is not like an exam for him as we all know his quality and indeed shortcomings as no human is perfect and we can manage that anyway, thus the results of the two games he has been giving won’t be the only yardstick to determine the next steps we will take regarding his possible future as the substantive Super Eagles head coach,” Dikko told KingFut.

“Rather the biggest determinant would be his readiness to situate his project for the Super Eagles within the NFF overall objectives of returning the Supers Eagles to their enviable position as the best in Africa and indeed the world by building a team that will be feared by all and be winning trophies sustainably and playing the entertaining football we are all known for,” he explained.

The NFF vice president also praised Siasia, who led the U-23 side to qualify for the Rio Olympics, saying the 48-year-old coach has an eye for spotting talent.

“He has qualified for the Olympics with a lot of exciting players discovered including the goal scorer against Egypt in Kaduna and in fact just defeated Brazil U23 in a friendly game with several new players involved,” he said.

Dikko also discussed the possibility of hiring a foreign coach to take over the Nigerian team, while explaining the NFF’s plan to turn the fans’ focus to the domestic game instead of the foreign football.

“It’s certainly not a priority and indeed the new national orientation campaign in Nigeria is to look in house and use made in Nigeria on everything except where it’s extremely necessary then we look foreign. This is the only way to rebuild the country and indeed football cannot be an exception.

“In our Nigeria football industry now the campaign is hugely focusing on getting the fans and corporate bodies to turn their hearts and pockets towards supporting the domestic game instead of foreign football which has gradually taking over the football space in Nigeria to the detriment of the domestic game,” Dikko explained.

The NFF vice president refused to reveal any information regarding applicants or candidates for the head coach position. He also stressed their satisfaction with Siasia’s performance so far.

“Nigeria is a great footballing nations with huge potentials thus it always attracts interest globally and once we have any opening for national team coach we do always receive unsolicited interest from top coaches globally.

“We will take decision after evaluating all the factors but for now we have coach Samson Siasia and we are very much happy with what we have seen so far and we are giving him all the backing he required to succeed,” he added.

Dikko however asserted that winning their match against Egypt on Tuesday remains their top priority at the moment.

“For now our priority is to get our target four points from the 2 games with Egypt and take control of the group and we see what happen from there but certainly coach Samson has a head start against any other coach regarding the Super Eagles coach substantive appointment,” he added.

The Pharaohs will host the Super Eagles in Alexandria on Tuesday in a game that will determine who’ll lead Group G and qualify to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. On Friday, Egypt managed to clinch a draw in the away leg in Kaduna to remain on the top of the group on four points, two clear of second-placed Nigeria.

EXCLUSIVE | NFF vice-president: Egypt is of no match to Nigeria
By Marwan Ahmed Follow @Marwan_KF
Posted on March 28, 2016

Nigeria Football Federation vice-president Shehu Dikko speaks to KingFut following the Super Eagles’ draw against Egypt in Kaduna.

Nigeria took on Egypt in the first of a crucial back-to-back double header to determine who’ll lead the group and qualify to the Africa Cup of Nations. Following Chad forfeiting from the qualifiers, it has now been confirmed that only one country from the group can qualify, with the Pharaohs leading the group with four points, Nigeria with two and Tanzania with one.

Egypt host the Super Eagles tomorrow at Borg El-Arab stadium. Regarding the team’s preparations, Dikko told KingFut: “Well, our preparations are top notch and the NFF is doing whatever possible to ensure we get the right results in the two matches with the minimum objective to take at least 4 points from the 6 points available.

Nigeria had conceded an injury-time equaliser against Egypt, much to the dismay of Super Eagles officials and players alike.

“You will agree with me that with the first game concluded, Egypt were extremely lucky and fortunate to have got a share of the point instead of the thrashing we deserved to give them based on the balance of play and the chances we created in Kaduna,” Dikko remarked.

“Egypt were simply no match to Nigeria and in fact had to rely on an unethical way to get the equaliser in injury-time by refusing to give a fair play back to Nigeria when indeed it’s our keeper that put the ball out of play due an injury to our defender,” Dikko boldly exclaimed.

“This clearly is not the right way to play football as fair play is fair play and it’s simply not a good example by Egypt to do that as it negates all the principles of football and shows the fear of Egypt towards the game with Nigeria. Egypt couldn’t get to break the Nigerian defence for 90 minutes, until they decided to disregard fair play in injury-time and thus took our defenders out of position since everyone was waiting on the fair play.

“But that is not a problem, as we are confident we will get our points back in the second leg in Alexandria by defeating Egypt and thus taking control of the group. Our players are ready and well prepared and indeed history is on our side to achieve this and simply Egypt is no match to us,” Dikko concluded.

The Pharaohs go head-to-head on Tuesday in Alexandria at 19:00 CLT.

Amuzie had a good game Sir, I understand your point though. But its there for every one to see, that his game spoke for him. The guy was not intimidated by Salah. He kept an eye over him. If you want to use experience and club as the basis for your arguments, I will have less to say, but if you allow his game especially the one against Egypt to speak for him, then they would be no need to bring this issue up. The played well.

Yaya Toure was not an established Superstar if not he would not have left due to limited playing time.

Pogba and Morata were reserve players.

Even if the person plys his trade on the bench in India, what matters is how he performs in training and during games.

Remember, Amuzie is playing his first professional football in Europe and in an obsure league?

Now, dechiper thou what i mean?

You said you have technical facts and you want me to prove with technical facts.

I said I prefer Amuzie and I am not a fan of Echiejile's game. I have seen Echiejile torn to shreds during an AFCON qualifiers and I doubt he can put in a better performance stopping Salah.

People scream Echiejile based on popularity. I prefer Juwon Oshaniwa who Coach Keshi who established Echiejile in the National team dropped Echiejile for.

Nigeria Vs Congo: Player Rating

Echiejile : His wing was exploited by the speedy Congolese. Poor overlapping. 3/10
https://www.nairaland.com/1891105/nigeria-vs-congo-player-rating

I am not saying Coach Siasia can not call Echiejile. That is his choice but I do not and can not see Echiejile dealing with the pace.

It is you calling Amuzie an eyesore because he is not playing regular games. I pointed out to you that a player can be good and not get regular games. Just like Morata and Pogba. Just like Pique at Man Utd.
.

Is playing for Man United and Real Madrid same as playing for an obsure division 2 club in Portugal?

This is what you get when you have a selfish coach willing to trade his Nation for a pieces of bread. Amuzie was a waste. Aminu Umar was a waste. How can you leave your best players on the bench and you are expecting to get good results? He left out Echijiele for an in experienced Amuzie. He left out Moses Simon for Aminu Umar. He left out Onazi for an in experience Etebor and Okechukwu. What a coach.

And someone here is...... Mtcheeeeeeeee!

The Number 14 Guy and Iwobi changed the Game! We should watch out for them in the New Super Eagles! Moses played well too, I think he deserves to be called into the Olympic Squad!

Well done to the Coaching Crew and the Players! We are out of AFCON, but I think we shouldn't bash the Players nor their Coaches! They are called into the frame when the damage is already being done by Oliseh! They are patriotic and did the Nation proud far away in the North Africa!
Up Super Eagles!!!

Which danger was done by Oliseh? This is pure madne.... on the part of our coach to field players for their own selfish reasons.

2 out of the 3 substitution were wasted. We wouldn't have substituted in echiejile and iwobi if the coach had started them.

Echiejile should have started ahead of amuzie, aminu had no business starting the game.
