No natural attacking midfielder, no purpose no direction.
Siasia forgot our strength is playing from the wings. Even the Egyptians know that. Non... angry

Iwobi impressed me. This is a natural attacking midfielder.

Well done to the Coaching Crew and the Players! We are out of AFCON, but I think we shouldn't bash the Players nor their Coaches! They are called into the frame when the damage is already being done by Oliseh! They are patriotic and did the Nation proud far away in the North Africa!
Up Super Eagles!!!

Well said Sir. This is not the time for us to trade blames, but to ask ourselves sincere and positive questions. A critical analysis of the situation we find ourselves in is what we must not ignore. The ward forward is what is important.

Our players were not disgraced. The side that showed the greater hunger for victory carried the day.
Up Super Eagles, we shall rise again.

Pls someone help me console Confun, she is in tears gringrin

Reference:

What is it with Kelechi Iheanacho that Nigerian coaches hate him this much. Keshi never gave him a look even when drowning. He was taken to the U20's World Cup. Benched almost throughout for less quality. He produced virtually the only shot on target in Kaduna resulting in the only goal of the episode and his reward, bench.

Keshi refused to use him.

Manu Garba refused to use him

Oliseh barely used him.

Siasia still benched him after a better-than-most first leg.

When we say foreign coaches are more merit-conscious, they tell us we hate Nigerian coaches.

It was only natural to believe.... I never wish my country bad stuffs but sometimes bad stuffs must happen to clear the way for the emergence of good stuffs waiting in the wings.

On Safarigirl's thread, "Oliseh vs Enyeama and the impending doom", We foresaw this possibility of Nigeria missing the AFCON 2017 and here we are....

The damage was already done before Oliseh "cowardly" threw in the towel yet I just felt I lose nothing by still being positive about our chances.

Just take a look at the midfield combo of Azubuike Okechukwu and Alex Iwobi who both came on................ NOW THAT'S THE FUTURE.

I KNEW NIGERIA COULDN'T WIN THIS GAME WITHOUT PLAYERS LIKE IHEANACHO AND MOSES SIMON...... My jaw almost fell when I saw our starting line-up. But I just stayed calm....

It's really not Siasia's fault. He has a job to do with the U-23.... BUT HE MADE THE WRONG CHOICE IN ATTACK...... WHY START A NON-CREATIVE AMINU AHEAD OF NACHO AND IWOBI?

You dropped a pass master in Iwobi who could have eased the passing responsibilities of Mikel.

Just watch that game again, almost every body on the field was looking to get the ball to Mikel. Will Mikel do everything?? Etebo didn't shine today.. He was also bereft of ideas in the passing game.

When Iwobi and Azubuike came on, we saw fluidity and the beauty of midfield play and the passing game. We saw chances being created.

In the match thread, I opined on the first page that IHEANACHO IS ONE PLAYER THAT JUST HAS TO PLAY. WHY?? No one in the Super Eagles team hit the target more than him. Nacho is a goal-conscious kinda player.... We had no shot on target in the first half.

Victor Moses did his best but Musa was lost. Imagine if Simon Moses and Victor Moses had played at the same time on both wings switching wings at will.... Kaiiii Siasia really missed it here. He really messed up with his starting eleven.

WHY PLAY MUSA AHEAD OF SIMON MOSES?

This talk of experience, experience, experience is really OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We needed hunger not experience.... Experience alone can't win games.

Anyway, I'm glad Siasia will now fully face the U-23 team. He better put this behind him and focus on the Olympics.

BUT WOW!!! IT WILL FOREVER BE SAID THAT SIASIA WAS THE MAN IN THE DUGOUT WHEN NIGERIA MISSED THE AFCON IN 2012 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1982...... AND WAS IN THE DUGOUT AGAIN WHEN NIGERIA'S SUPER EAGLES MISSED AN AFCON FOR THE FIRST TIME CONSECUTIVELY..... This is a big blemish added to Siasia's CV but I hope he redeems himself with the U-23 Dream Team Eagles.

Our Golden Generation is rising fast and powerful. I smile about that because I know Nigerian football can't be down for too long......

Amuneke also has a job to do with our U-20s.

Manu Garba is already on the job with our U-17s.

And we have a large pool of top quality super talents rising rapidly.... Nigeria has never had it this dark in our football but we all know that when faced with the darkest of nights, it means the breaking of a new dawn is very near.

Nigeria's GENERATION NEXT is the the dawn of a new era..... Now that's what I look forward to starting with Rio 2016. #smiles

Cheer up Nigeria..... #BigSmiles

That is it my people.

All along I knew Nigeria were nt likely to win in Alexandria. Our chance was d game in Kaduna bt due to naivety we blew that chance.

The boys gave a good account of themselves.

Ambrose, Echiejile and Obaobona may likely b waving goodbye to d national tean. You guys tried, atleast u won us an AFCON trophy.
If we must carry Balogun along going forward, we have to include him as one of d over aged players going to Rio so d defense can b built around him due to his depth of experience.

We would be looking at d team going to Rio from which to select our next generation of defenders.

Onazi, Mikel, Moses, Musa and Oghalo may still b relevant in d New team bt they have to up their games as players like Etebo, Azubuike, Simon, Iwobi, Iheanacho, Umar etc are on d ascendency.
Not also forgetting d likes of Success and Ezekiel among others.

A new number 10 has emerged. He was d only player that went to Alexandria with d key to unlock d Egyptian defense. Ighalo became more threatening when he came in.
Alex Chuka Iwobi is our new number 10.
I was of d opinion dat he started d game. Bt na Siasia sabi o.

Shake it off patriots the future is bright for our football.

Siasia should b retained after d Olympics as d Super Eagles coach. Amuneke goes to handle his U20 team. We move on.

A NEW ERA IS BORN.

Garba comes to my memory with the way he destroyed the aspirations of our creative, flair, intelligent players over a pot of porridge, Siasia with all the love and admirations i have for him (in my own opinion still the best local coach for nigeria) just followed the same line of Amodu, Keshi, Manu Garba, and recently the inexperienced Oliseh ( igboun, and his likes...). Nigeria need a very experience, tested foreign coach that will not beclouded with ethnic, religious, and parochial entiment in selecting the best players at all time for my great and beloved country...****tears dropping....

How can you leave your best players on the bench and you are expecting to get good results? He left out Echijiele for an in experienced Amuzie. He left out Moses Simon for Aminu Umar. He left out Onazi for an in experience Etebor and Okechukwu. What a coach.

Remember, Amuzie is playing his first professional football in Europe and in an obsure league?

It was the selection of the first eleven and strategy that hurt us.

Is there anyone on this thread who still thinks Echiejile was a better option than Amuzie. Please let that person identify himself.

Did you see how free Salah became as soon as Amuzie went off? Did you see Echiejile's woeful cross?

That guy is not close to the level a lot of people put him.

Wholistically Siasia did well with d team. His greatest undoings has always been choice of players. I think d NFF technical committee would would do their job in that regards.

I wouldn't b suprised if for instance Siasia takes Awoniyi and Osimhen to Rio ahead of the more lethal and experienced U23 strikers. That is him for u.

Can you honestly tell me Echiejile was better? He was atrocious. That was a sick change. Salah got more freedom and Echiejile contributed nothing to the attack.

Tell me Echiejile played well.

Coach Siasia brought Echiejile hoping he could whip in crosses but his cross said it all.

Tell me Salah did not have more free time when Echiejile came on.

I never outrightly said Siasia should be head coach.

Siasia is a very good age-grade coach but a failure at senior level.

#fact

Now his CV just got worse.

I want a coach who will select based on top merits and not based on some bullshit sentiments and "Experience-only" nonsense.... Be him or it (a foreigner, a local or even an alien!!!!!!!)

I think we should consider intelligent foreign coaches not just some dude in white skin like largerback or so....

Or else go for an alien!!!!!!! Who be the coach of that alien team wey play Galaxy 11 again sef? **checks google**

Go and check Berti Vogtz line up, you will know our problem is being foriegn coaches.

Against Benin Republic, if I am correct of the team, Yakubu kept on missing chances repeatedly. He missed three sitters and Vogtz left him on.

During the game, Martins went to Kanu, the camera covered it and begged Kanu to talk to Vogtz.

The man refused. Anyone with head knew it was time to let Yakubu bench but they refused.

Remember the famous Yak Attack miss. That was hoe bad Yakubu reached but they left Martins out and played Yakubu until he missed that goal before they knew it was over for him. That was a foreign coach, Lars Lagerback.

People shouting foreign coach, foreign coach. Quote me anywhere No top class foreign coach can work with d NFF except we are going for one low class Stankovic or Milosovic from one Eastern European country.

Siasia is the best local coach we have but the Super Eagle team is too big for all our local coaches i must confess, all our local coaches have all always fail in 1. player selections. 2. team tactics. 3. making impactful substitution and at the right time...most of them make impulsive substitution.
For Nigeria to recreate the golden years of the 90's we must as a matter of urgency, quickly search for very experience, intelligent foreign coach. we got enormous talent coming up to boss africa and world football for 8 years which no local coach will honestly harness well rather they will sell our goodwill over a pot of porridge.
