Let's give you a standard earthing system

As a layman like me, pls whats the importance of earthing and how much does it cost on the average. tnx.

The main purpose of earthing is to avoid or minimize the chance of electrocution. Any leakage or faulty current in the circuit causes the presence of electric charge on exposed conductive surfaces. Earthing provides a low resistive conductive path directly to the earth, which carries any such fault or leakage current.

Earthing can protect from sudden excessive surges, it also provides protection from lightning strikes. Any lighting strikes on the exposed metal or received through another path which is connected to earth line get discharged directly to earth.

The cost ranges between 80,000 -120,000

Hi I just moved to this new house, I cannot see the lightening arrester rod on top of the roof, but the security guard swears they did earthing by burying those charcoal things in the ground and connecting to the house or something, is this enough protection without the rod on the roof? Should I be worried?

Set up your arrester, run your copper tape or 16mmsq NYM cable locate the water pipe that that was laid to your home, clamp your cable or copper tape strongly to it, that just what you need.
Importantly earth rod or copper mat must be installed about 1.5metres away from the building you are protecting not at the foundation

It can be done if you your overhead water tank is on the roof or close to the building. The lightning arrestor covers about 45m radius for the conventional type called spike.

Also the you can do your earthing when you are pulling the cables ...

Also if you don't any sensitive equipment in the building, You can do only earthing system ..
