Another example why this administration has failed to be fruitful. What is the current administration doing to curtailed this epidemic and kidnapping?

At least one million Nigerian children are sold into internal and external slavery annually, according to experts who say this has put the country on an odious list of the world’s eight worst abusers of the rights of children.

Depends on how you define slavery. Child abuse and slavery are different things.

Bless you.

There is also the need to understand that what someone regards as child abuse may be seen another way by another.

So a child sold to another as a slave, say for a period of time, is not a slave?

Slavery
1. The practice of slaveholding
2. Work done under harsh conditions for little or no pay
3. The state of being under the control of another person
Child abuse
The physical, emotional or sexual mistreatment of children.
If a child is abducted and is restrained and compelled to be under the control of another person, you can classify that as slavery.
Neither can be justified and the current administration and the people need to cry out to abolish this inhumane act.

In my opinion, denial seems the name of the game. We try to call it another name so we can better bare it, rather than accept it for what it is and do something real to deal with the problem. Some in northern /muslim areas believe it is in line with their belief and so see nothing wrong with it. Those in the south are good at applying new, softer labels on the problem so they can put off dealing with it a bit longer.

Based on definitions above, is there no slavery in America and Europe?

Mamajama,
whose definitions are those above? are u quoting any source or authority? even if u are quoting a dictionary's definition of the two words above, u just need to name them for refference purposes.

Is this justification for our continued denial of what we know exists within our own shores? Are we justified when we point accusing fingers at others for past sins when we today, indulge and excuse the very same? The Topic is about slavery in Nigeria.

Nigerians need to start engaging in more ideology discursions and not doing the blame game.
We can’t continue to live in the box and pray for prosperity and change.

It’s mind bugling when we are talking of events occurring in Nigeria and people are making compression to USA or Europe.

@ JustGood do we have the same law and legislation in Nigeria that prohibits slavery or child abuse as they do in USA or Europe?

Most company in the country have subjected Nigerians to slavery. The most painful ones are foreigners like Labanist,Indians and some selfish and wicked nigerians etc.I'm surprise Labour union is still blind to this.Someone should tell them that their responsibility is not only to fight government when they is hike in the price of fuel.

Don't forget the children who are sold into slavery in the name of religion.
