According to Sani, it is wrong to call Jonathan a hero over his decision to accept defeat and congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari after he lost the March 28 presidential election. Jonathan had been commended by a cross-section of Nigerians for averting a possible crisis through his action. However, Sani in a statement on his official Facebook page said Jonathan should not be “over-praised” for doing the right thing. He said, “In India, Europe and the Americas, when a President or a Prime Minister loses an election, he simply hands over to the winner and no one ‘commends or praises’ him for doing so. In Africa, we call those who lose and hand over ‘heroes’ and we shower praises on them for doing what they are supposed to do.

Why don’t we call people who obey traffic lights ‘heroes’?”

He also urged newly inaugurated governors to probe their predecessors that owed civil servants salaries. “Governors who inherited heavy debt burden must constitute panels of experts with terms of reference to verify the debts and move towards recovering stolen public funds from ex-officials. It will be intolerable for the new governments to grant amnesty to thieves and then introduce painful economic measures which will further exploit and impoverish the masses in the name of raising the revenue profile of the states,” Sani said.

The news from Nigeria today is wonderful.
Africa’s largest country has concluded a peaceful election process. Furthermore, the incumbent has already gracefully conceded and congratulated his successor – a first for Nigeria and a benchmark for other African countries to follow.
Today, we Africans are all proud of Nigeria and President Jonathan.

Buhari who contested for Presidency many times without giving up before eventually became a President will rather be my hero than the 'otueke-latest-arrival' who became hero of some fools by conceding defeat. He could be likened to Lincoln of Nigeria though his own defeat is still an average as compared with Lincoln's defeat.

With the logistics on ground, what would GEJ could have done if he didn't conceded the defeat after Jega has declared GMB as the winner?

Though I may be wrong, but the truth is that the only election GEJ experienced in his life was the one conducted in the year 2015. Other positions he occupied were through selection, not election.
