I Won’t Allow Kidnapping, Corruption – Udom Emmanuel by Udstar(m): 1:22am On Jun 07, 2015 |
MAY 30, 2015 : ETIM EKPIMAH The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has promised to eradicate kidnapping, armed robbery, poverty and corruption in the state. Emmanuel, who spoke after he was sworn in in Uyo on Thursday, said his administration would create wealth through reactivation of moribund and dead industries in the state. The new governor identified accountability and transparency as the tenets of his administration by fighting corruption in all sectors. Emmanuel said he would promote trade, commerce and tourism between Akwa Ibom and the rest of Nigeria. To foster, develop and maintain sustainable transformation therefore, he promised to maintain good relationship with both the legislature and the judiciary. While commending the people for standing by him before his election, Emmanuel said, “To my former political opponents, I urge them and their supporters to let partisan feelings yield to patriotism. We hold out our hands to them, it is a planting season in the Akwa Ibom family and they are invited to come and plant with us.” He added that his other plans include development and mobilisation of youths and women through planned and well articulated welfare and capacity building programmes; adherence to the principles of the rule of law, justice and fair play, as well as making effort to attract federal presence by sustaining a harmonious relationship with the government at the centre. Emmanuel, however, renamed the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, hitherto christened ‘Nest of Champions’ to Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. He said the decision was in compliance with the resolution of the outgoing State House of Assembly in recognition of Akpabio’s legacies in the state. |

I see this state standing out in terms of infrastructural developments and a peaceful society that will attract lots of investments and tourism. They seem to have a working plan. |
