Wise man. I said it yesterday, that the next move of the APC will determine if the situation will be bettered or worsened. Clearly APC Lagos is determined to gamble with the party. Hope they have enough chips and a solid hand.

You asked for change and it has come, why are you all complaining? Afterall politics is not played fairly in nigeria, there's always a conspiracy and a compromise one way or the other. So no one should talk about fairness. Let it be that way.

Job gbokwe and lie Mohammed should note that Saraki and Dogara are the number 3 and 4 citizens of this country. Maximum respect must accorded to them by the virtue of the office they occupy.

PDP members in the National assembly knew they have an upper hand if there is disunity in the APC, there is no way lawan could have won if APC senators were there.
Punishment for Saraki means Kwankwaso, Yerima, Melaye and others will get punished and I don't see that happening.

Why must the Legislators abandon an important national assignment as inauguration to attend to a party issue? Does it mean since APC had majority MPs, their interest supercedes that of the nation? Thank you for that important question.

Re: Punish Saraki, Dogara– Lagos APC by generalkofosi(m): 9:03am On Jun 10, 2015
My own opinion is that PMB is too slow, and since it's d APC dat elected him, the aggrieved party should go and plan with the PDP member to go ahead with impeachment process(buhari)maybe that time we all can see the danger in some members of the APC (Saraki and co) conniving with other party to achieve their selfish interest.

Otherwise, Bukola and Co should be dealt with no matter the cost.

yea..But picking a running mate in the opposition is a big blow. And we all know this is one of the reasons he has the backing of almost all the PDP senator elect. PDP can't jst support Saraki like that, he must have promised the party(PDP) some other things probably to the detriment of his party. Its a complete sell out as far as I am concerned. Do you know if the PDP had wanted, they would have allowed David mark emerge as the president for the 3rd time? Have u wondered why they didn't? They had the chance to buh they chose to let Saraki run unopposed. Only God knows the juicy things Saraki promised them... I might be wrong though

APC should therefore thank Saraki for ensuring that APC retained the senate presidency. This is because at the time of proceedings, PDP had majority of members present yet,Saraki convinced them to return him unopposed. PDP could have voted in their members and there is nothing APC could have done about it. Note, they cannot get 2/3 majority in the senate to carry out any impeachment.

Isoni:
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives
Congress has urged the national leadership of the
party to punish the Senate President, Bukola Saraki,
and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Yakubu Dogara, for anti-party activities.

Lagos APC, in a statement by its publicity secretary,
Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said it was saddening that Saraki
could ‘jump into bed’ with the Peoples Democratic
Party in his desperation for power.

Igbokwe described the re-election of Senator Ike
Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President as an
embarrassment to the APC.

The statement read, “The purported election of
Senator Saraki and Dogara as the Senate President
and Speaker respectively, is a clear transgression of
both the tenets of democracy and party politics. At
this early stage, the APC must come down strongly to mete out sanctions and punishments against
treacherous members that perpetrated this ugly
charade at this early stage of the party’s life and
history.

“As a party and given the circumstances of our
present politics, the APC stands no risk of being
eroded by this treachery. Rather, we see the clear
road to enforce discipline in the treacherous conduct of some members of the National Assembly.

“We see the need for the party to wield the big stick
now to send a message home that treachery will not
profit those who might want to cash in on similar
circumstances to spite the party and cash personal
benefits in the long run. It is certain that these
betrayers are not members of the APC and we feel
the party must weigh in now and discipline these
betrayers.”

Even though I am not a Saraki fan, I don't really have a problem with his emergence as the senate president but the means through which he emerged..And his deputy(PDP). He has only sold out the party to the opposition and I wonder how easy it ll be for the party to implement some its plans for the country without the approval of the opposition that failed Nigeria for 16yrs. I just hope we are not back to square one

Dogara on the other hand, won fairly and doesn't deserve to be punished..its obvious that the mock election's flawed. How could he have gotten just 3votes, when somebody in the party stepped down for him and put his weight behind him? He wasnt satisfied with the mock election and went to the battlefield with the man that got over 100votes in the mock elections ..He was nominated the same way Gbajabiamila was. And an election took place, which he won and was declared. Everything doesn't have to go the "Lagos way" but the "Nigeria way". #myOpinion
There is a lot wrong with how Saraki emerged, but most nauseatingly how we now have an absurd situation where we have a PDP deputy senate president.
In all sincerity and inspite being a diehard fan and believer in PMB, I lay this absurdity squarely on his shoulders and he should start finding ways to correct his error of yesterday.
The point is that with the baggage Saraki comes with and that of PDP to which ekweremadu represents, their elections has dealth a moral and perception blow to PMB anti corruption, change and not "business as usual" stance even before it gets started.
We should all care and be highly disturbed with what happened yesterday in the senate.
