The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives
Congress has urged the national leadership of the
party to punish the Senate President, Bukola Saraki,
and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Yakubu Dogara, for anti-party activities.

Lagos APC, in a statement by its publicity secretary,
Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said it was saddening that Saraki
could ‘jump into bed’ with the Peoples Democratic
Party in his desperation for power.

Igbokwe described the re-election of Senator Ike
Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President as an
embarrassment to the APC.

The statement read, “The purported election of
Senator Saraki and Dogara as the Senate President
and Speaker respectively, is a clear transgression of
both the tenets of democracy and party politics. At
this early stage, the APC must come down strongly to mete out sanctions and punishments against
treacherous members that perpetrated this ugly
charade at this early stage of the party’s life and
history.

“As a party and given the circumstances of our
present politics, the APC stands no risk of being
eroded by this treachery. Rather, we see the clear
road to enforce discipline in the treacherous conduct of some members of the National Assembly.

“We see the need for the party to wield the big stick
now to send a message home that treachery will not
profit those who might want to cash in on similar
circumstances to spite the party and cash personal
benefits in the long run. It is certain that these
betrayers are not members of the APC and we feel
the party must weigh in now and discipline these
betrayers.”

yea..But picking a running mate in the opposition is a big blow. And we all know this is one of the reasons he has the backing of almost all the PDP senator elect. PDP can't jst support Saraki like that, he must have promised the party(PDP) some other things probably to the detriment of his party. Its a complete sell out as far as I am concerned. Do you know if the PDP had wanted, they would have allowed David mark emerge as the president for the 3rd time? Have u wondered why they didn't? They had the chance to buh they chose to let Saraki run unopposed. Only God knows the juicy things Saraki promised them... I might be wrong though

1. The NASS should be dissolved.
2. Members should onwards be nominated across the all the geopolitical zones of the nation. And not be elected through political parties. It is obvious that they are not representing the people but themselves.
3. Members should be thoroughly screened by strict criteria before they are endorsed.
4. Only sitting allowances and transport fares should be paid to them as they are going to be serving the nation.
5. They must be respectable people in the society with good records.
Thats when there will be a meaningful progress

Apc obviously got carried away by their unexpected national success which they are not well equiped and prepared to manage.

APC is an expert in opposition politics but pdp is teaching them painful but vital lessons on politics of governance.

Even though I am not a Saraki fan, I don't really have a problem with his emergence as the senate president but the means through which he emerged..And his deputy(PDP). He has only sold out the party to the opposition and I wonder how easy it ll be for the party to implement some of its plans for the country without the approval of the opposition that failed Nigeria for 16yrs. I just hope we are not back to square one

Dogara on the other hand, won fairly and doesn't deserve to be punished..its obvious that the mock election's flawed. How could he have gotten just 3votes, when somebody in the party stepped down for him and put his weight behind him? He wasnt satisfied with the mock election and went to the battlefield with the man that got over 100votes in the mock elections ..He was nominated the same way Gbajabiamila was. And an election took place, which he won and was declared. Everything doesn't have to go the "Lagos way" but the "Nigeria way". #myOpinion

APC senators backing Saraki are the most reliable and dependent senators in the house. The real saboteurs are the stupid ones giving blind loyalty to party at the expense of the common good of the populace.

Take a look at it. They reached an agreement with PDP senators in favour of Saraki. The election of Saraki was done and dusted. They had nothing at stake. At that point, they could have renaged on the agreement to vote in favour of Ekeweremadu. but the fulfilled their own side of the deal.

This reflects their integrity. Watch out for their constituencies and see how they fulfill their campaign promises.

Hahahaha the apc shud really tread with caution. Saraki had strong supporters within the apc senators (from what we saw atleast about 7). And i learnt the difference between pdp and apc senators is'nt more than 10. So if apc shud fight saraki, he will decamp apc alongside his fellow senators to pdp thus adding atleast 8 senators to pdp and apc losing 8 senators. These will surely make the pdp the majority in the senate. Yes i know once saraki decamps, he loses his. But after then only the party with the majority will have the right to present the new senate president, and these will be which party! Pdp. The same thing applies to the hor
