RAMADAN DAY 2 (TWO) ANSWERS

(1) What is the wisdom behind phased revelation of the Quran? What verse (s) of the Quran mentioned this?

*To strengthen the heart of the Prophet constantly whenever the need for guidance arose ( See Q 25:32)

* To lesses the burden that accompanies revelation on the Prophet since it was always a difficult experience for him.
" Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect." Q59:21

* To ensure gradual and systematic implementation of Allaah's Law. Q 17:106

* To make comprehension and preservation (through recitation and mememorization) easier for the believers. Q75:16-19


(2)What distinguishes the Qur'an from other revealed books?

(Notes: Most posts were comparing the Quran with today's Bible and other handwritten scriptures. However, what was intended(and the proper way to approach such questions like this) was to look out for the fundamental differences between the Quran and other revealed books like Torah, Injeel, Suhuf and other scripts)
The differences between the Quran and other revealed scriptures are as follows:

*The Qur'an wasn't revealed at once. Other books were. See Q 25:32
* All other scriptures were revealed entirely on Earth while some verses of the Qur'an were revealed on Earth and some in the seven heavens (e.g the verses of the Throne)
* The Qur'an, unlike others, will forever be immuned and preserved against falsification.
" Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)." Q15:9



(3) Lexically, Qura'an means "that which is often recited", what is full definition of the Quran from the view of the Shariah?

The Qur'an can be defined as follows:
The SPEECH OF ALLAH, sent down upon the last PROPHET MUHAMMAD, through the ANGEL JIBRIL, in ITS PRECISE WORDINGS AND MEANING, transmitted to us MATAWATIR (through numerous chains), both verbally and in writing.


(4) What is "Naskh" , what is " Mansokh"? Give an example each.

* The word Naskh = 'the abrogating', while
Mansukh= 'the abrogated'.

Technically,these terms refer to certain parts of the Qur'anic revelation, which have been 'abrogated' by others.
Allaah says:
" None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause it to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: knowest thou that Allaah has power over all things?' ( Q2: 106)

The abrogated passage is the one called 'Mansukh' while the abrogating one is called 'Naskh'.

(5))"Wahy" (inspiration) is used in the Quran to capture different form of guidance from Allaah to His creatures. Mention a verse each to capture these?

Allaah uses "Wahy":

*Wahy as guidance through intuition in humans-
"So we sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses . . .' (Q28: 7)

*Wahy as natural instinct in creatures:
"And thy Lord taught the bee to build its cells in hills, on trees and in (man's) habitations"(Q16: 68)

*Wahy as Guidance from evil:
"Likewise did we make for every messenger an enemy evil ones among men and jinns, inspiring each other with flowery discourses by way of deception ...' (Q6: 112) 

*Wahy as guidance from Allaah:
"Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message) ..."(Q8: 12)
