Never heard of this car having a nigeria baptismal name except the '190' the brand gave to this model.
Even the so called 'baby benz' i dn't think it was ever called that in Nigeria.

190 padded. It's called "Obi Okoye" because most Igbo bizness men were buying it to show they have arrived during Xmas time.

This car made people pass through lots of trouble to acquire. Many stole, many did rituals, many went for blood money, etc. I remember Onitsha those days.

Some call it "usa Mercedes" meaning "longer throat for Mercedes" those days.

Nothing to remember about this car really, as there are many examples still on the road.
Mercedes Benz 190/190e produced for about a decade from the early 80s to early 90s.
Chasis designation w201, with the m102 engine. About 2 million examples produced at close of production.
First small sports sedan for the benz company. First car to use light weight high strength steel in manufacture of its chasis, also first with the multi link rear suspension.
Base model was 1.8 carburreted engine, top of range: the cosworth designed 2.5 16v evolution II models.
Many 190e forum are still active online, mostly European members, a few members from the Phillipines. A clean example from Cotonou today will still set you back in the region of 500k, the evolution models can be purchased from online sales sites, they are mostly unaffordable.
