He would only be wasting his transport that I can assure you . Stanbic don't play with Nysc discharge even if you are passing out in 1 week, they won't allow ! I had same experience at Uba, they didn't care that I had 2 months left with NYSC , they just said when I get the discharge , I would be rescheduled for another test.... Though some companies don't bother except at interview stage ... I wrote mansard insurance, and they never asked for discharge....

hmmmm. well d last graduate trainee batch had 2 pple still serving when dey got d offer. one of dem is a nl too. he dey chop money now . op it depends on when training school will start. no harm in trying. u may be lucky

I can assure you, they won't allow him write. As far as the requirement was clearly stated.

Don't know bout other banks, but UBA, Stanbic , standard chartered are very strict with it.

There's no harm in trying..the chances are 50/50.

As a serving NYSC member (Batch C), I forwarded my CV to Stanbic IBTC Bank to apply as a graduate trainee in the financial institution couple of weeks ago. I got an assessment invitation recently to show up for aptitude test (it is my first) slated for a particular date. One of the documents required to be brought to the test center is NYSC discharge certificate which I do not have until I'm discharged in October.
Fellow compatriots and nairalanders, I need your candid advice on this. Should I go for the test without the certificate or I should just forget about it?

Go for the test. Give it a try. Your discharge is just around the corner. The bank might not be hiring immediately but maybe in a few months time, as the hiring process often takes time, by then which you must have passed out.

Worst comes to worst, they would say they won't hire you because you are yet to have an NYSC certificate. But, hey, you wouldn't say you didn't try. It is always better to give a try than never try at all.

I suggest you give it a try,am still a serving corp member batch B to b precise,had the same issue but I stil pressed on. Luckily for me I was selected and the rest is history. Mind you all these happened 5months ago. I wish you all the best

Ur discharge certificate is an important doc u must present or else u lose out.....imagine d competition every1 else has d discharge certificate . Don't put da horse b4 da cart dude, it just won't work

OP, you won't be allowed to write it, so don't waste your transport, asides you still have a very long way (October) ... My scheduled time of POP wasn't even as long as yours, yet I wasn't allowed.

Hello Mannylex, please can one apply for to whom it may concern on NYSC Discharge certificate and then use it to apply for a Government Job pending one collect his/her original certificate should there be any vacancy ?
