Suspected assassins have killed an Egba Chief, the Oluwo of Ikanna in his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday, June 17.

The late Chief, Moses Oyebade, 75, was said to have been shot three times. It was learnt that attempt had been made to kill Oyebade before.

The victim's first son, Oluyemi Oyebade, recounted, "my father was sleeping in his bedroom. The bed is close to the window. As the glass was broken, he woke up to see what happened. He took his torch to see who was there. That was how he was shot.

"The first gunshot was in his hand which was seriously damaged. Maybe when he was still struggling, they shot him again. I guess they shot him three times.”

The Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident, saying the killers left a note after killing the chief. In the note, he was referred to as "Useless" and "Promiscuous".

Adejobi said, “We have a case of murder at hand concerning Apena of Ikanna Chief Moses Oyebade. Some men went to his residence, broke his window and shot him at 12: am .

“We have examined the place and recovered assassination note which contained a message written in both English and Yoruba languages.

“The content read useless man, Oni dokudo (promiscuous ). In our preliminary investigation, it could be a case of assassination. We will invite some people for interrogation.

“The state Police Commissioner, Valentine Ntomchukwu has directed that the case be transfered to department of criminal investigation.

“The perpetrators would not go Scot free. The commissioner of Police sympathises with the family, even, the Kabiyesi, the Alake of Egbaland.”

The Nigeria Police Force should just forget about the man case, the letter dropped by the assassin has said it all..According to the news, if the deceased is truly an Oluwo or Apena the deities should have helped him...The same apply to Alfas and Pastors parading their self as men of God and using that to port different holes...Na so God go dey catch una...I think the man family should just withdraw the case from the Police cos the man don already brought shame to them..

As sad as the story is, one can't but see the hilarious side of it...'onidokudo'

Baba , don't jump into conclusion about the whole issue. The note at the scene of the murder might be true or might be planted to cause a red herring on the case in order to divert the attention of the investigators .

I don't know if you are Yoruba or not, but if you are then you don't know the the position the man is holding in the community...before you attain the position of Oluwo or Apena you must be a MAN...if the man has never compromise there is no way they will kill the man like chicken...I know what am saying...if you are Yoruba you will understand be better...in some community, the man family will never smell that position again.
