Ben Bruce, the Senator who is representing the
Bayelsa East Senatorial District, has been under
Twitter attack all week, most recently in retaliation
to his making light of the Osun State Workers
salary crisis.
Senator Bruce became the target of many Twitter
followers and Governor Rauf Aregbesola for saying
that he would be

The Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola,
responded to Bruce through a statement issued
by his Director, Bureau of Communication and
Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, saying that
Senator Bruce has “turned the plight of Nigerian
workers to a thing of an entertainment” and that
he was “trivialising the salary issue affecting more
than half of the States of the Federation in this
ridiculous manner.”
“Of all the States in the federation who are battling
to pay salaries as a result of the precarious
economic situation his Party the PDP threw
Nigeria into why is it that it is Osun he wants to
take his pay to?” he added.
Senator Bruce exacerbated the outrage toward his
nonchalant attitude by Tweeting that
I may not be a Muslim, but I respect Islam
and I believe that it is wrong for me to
respond to any attack during the Holy
month of Ramadan.
