While I was coming from class today, I saw some guys collecting money from people to use the "walk over bridge". Is this right or wrong. Business or extortion?

smiley seems you're new to oshodi. I'll rather not call it extortion, I'll call it creativity. You're not forced to pay. You can roll your trousers and walk through the water.

You see joblessness but I see creativity, survival instinct. Some people are jobless yet they'll never think of what they should temporarily do to make money. They prefer to beg people for money. Now tell me, which one would you prefer; these guys or robbers?

In a way, it's a business but a temporary one because as soon as the rain stops and the water flows into the drainages or sink into earth, that's the end. I'll see a business as one that you do regularly. I'll only be angry with these guys if the fee is exorbitant. N20 per person is not bad considering the number of people using the bridge as at the time the shot was taken. This means more people would have used it before and after the shot.

That same dirty smelly water is what someone who paid 'crossing' levy will dive into if suddenly a train is coming on those tracks he crossed to land.
