Not 'without reason', they had a pretty good reason and they gave them several years notice.

Lagos needs more roads, for that to happen a lot of buildings will be demolished.
Many years of notice without compensation! u'll make a good leader! Right-thinking Man!

Were all of them not paid compensation? Or some of them?

Regardless, the compensation is not the primary issue, like it or not the needs of the majority are more important than the compensation owed to a few petty traders.

I love the response of the people. As painful as the demolition was to them, they still stood by the government decision. No one claimed withc hunting or the likes.
I am proud of Lagosians anyday. Enlightened. Switched on. I can imagine the tribal war that will be generated if government was to do the needful in Alaba or Festac area.

Please define tribal war,I dont understand.

So govt just destroyed property without reason undecided tanoid don't even know how to play opposition u better go to Lai Muhammed for lectures
My brother ask them o.....everyone on the Lagos Badagry express road, have been compensated and given notices to leave,to make way for the road and rail road construction, before this demolitions, they've stayed extra 2 years after the notices have expired. The spare parts dealers at Volkswagen before Okokomaiko, will confirm this to anyone...most of them were just trading on free rent before their shops were finally demolished last month....the delay in completion of the road project ,is partly due to the fact that most people refused to vacate the marked structures for demolition.

Now you are the one trying to stir up the tribal war.
This same demolition has been on for more than 3 years and have passed through places like orile-Iganmu, Maza-maza, Festac 1st 2nd & 3rd gates, Iyana-iba, Alaba-rago mkt etc. Guess you know those who were mostly affected... and there has not been any tribal.

Some of you love to cease every opportunity to start tribal tantrums.

This why you should hire professionals right from the beginning; even before you buy land. Hire lawyers, surveyors, architects, builders, engineers.

These professionals will help make informed decisions and obtain documents that would shield you when government comes calling.

see d way u dey reason! it still doesn't make it right! d only right thing 2 do is 2 settle dem
prior 2 d demolition, those fuckin barbaric leaders should first seek Residents agreement and then discuss relocation and compensation plans with dem. . . .

This is quite expected! The road and rail that is under construction from Orile to Badagry is the cause! More houses will be demolished along that route!
