‘GETTING HIGH’… THE OTHER PERSPECTIVE
The term ‘getting high’ could mean a lot of things. It could literarily mean moving from a leveled position to an elevated position or transcending to an abnormal plane. Anyhow you define it; you can’t help but realize that that there is always a movement from bottom to top.
To be frank with you, people love getting high. One thing about getting high is the fact that there is nothing physical about it. It is entirely spiritual. Whether it’s the priest communing with his God, or the prostitute lost in sexual lust…the teenager craving for coke or the drunk married to the bottle; they all have one thing in common: they get high. They leave their normal physical zone to a spiritual one. ‘Why?’ You might wonder…. Maybe it’s because since God created life, and God is supernatural; it now goes to parity of reasoning that life itself would be supernatural, beyond natural, beyond normal, abnormal i.e. not conforming to rule or system; deviating from the usual or normal. Therefore to conquer life you do not operate normally; not naturally. You’ve got to go spiritual to get elevated into supernaturality, abnormality. The mysteries of life are spiritual. Should its solving be any less spiritual? There is a limit to what a normal human being can achieve. It`s a restriction…normalcy entails a restriction; dreaming within a restricted scope and forgetting to dream big. But when you are high, transcended, filled with spirituality; your imaginations are opened wide to things that might seem impossible. If your dreams don’t scare you, then my friend, you are not dreaming big enough. You need to go back to sleep and dream again. And when asleep, you are no longer normal. You’ve gone into spiritual mode.
My point is,… whatever process a human being goes through to get high produces the same effect…born out of the strong desire to be better and eventually be best at the choices we make in our chosen fields of endeavor. We all want our cause to be popular…so understand this: getting high isn’t a crime; though the mode might be. But let he that loves a thing not condemn it when it bears another name.
