Three teen boys in the U.K. have come up with an idea that could revolutionize sex as we know it. As a project for the TeenTech Awards, three boys (two of them are 14, the other's just 13!) researched the possibility of condoms that turn luminescent, or switch to a new shade when they come in contact with various STDs.

The idea is that antibodies on the condom would react when they come in contact with the antigens of an STD. In other words, if you're hooking up with a guy who has herpes, you'll be able to tell because the rubber might change to a glowing yellow hue. Someone infected with HPV could cause it to turn purple, and so on. Scary? Yes. Helpful? YES.

It's only a working concept right now, but various established condom companies have already begun approaching the guys to get the idea moving forward—so it might hit store shelves sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, we're excited that there may finally be a glow-in-the-dark condom we can actually justify using.
