By the nature of my profession ART I have travelled wide in Africa and they are all over the continent with image denting jobs.
I was in Gambia for four years between 2000 and 2004, Gambia being a peaceful place you can't see their police holding gun but Bartons. Almost a crime free country but the very first armed robbery case was by Nigerians " Our ppl" Four of them working as casino workers went to their boss' house to robb him of the previous night sales money he couldnt take to the bank. and were caught. we woke up to the news of Nigerian robbers and we were so ashamed. They talked about us in public buses nd places and what could we say to defend ourselves, nothing.
I was in Mali 1998 Nigerians "our ppl" killed one white tourist and robbed him of about 30million french franc.
South Africa in 2012 met a very nice friendly Nigerian about 23 yrs of age at the Home office. My stay remained a week and this guy offered to host me for the week remaining so that I would save my money and leave my hotel room so I accepted and to be sincere the young guy was very nice but the night I got to his apartment he told me he is into fraud. in his word " bros Na paper I dey throw Oo", the second day I got there he hit a victim and got good money according to him it was about 3 million naira converted.

The moment I heard this I was afraid if the police should come for him all in his apartment would be wisked away and we were three. I quickly made up a story and left back to the hotel early the following morning. I thought he would soon be caught but till today he is still in the business and has become a big boy judging by his photos I see on Facebook. he is one of our ppl.

I've been to several other countries too and I've got different stories of "our ppl" and the image denting ways. I am not a tribalistic person as I love ppl no matter where you come from but the truth is no tribe as dented the image of our country so much abroad like the hard working ppl.
