If the bank job is not on contract staff/marketing thing. Then the bank takes preference because of the opportunity of better pay and long term growth.

Lecturing might be easier less stressful but the long term pay and growth potential is not that attractive

What long term growth are you talking about? In banking? Are you for real?

As I said earlier as long as you are a full time staff and not on contract bank pay is better than a lecturer's pay.

I know for instance that banks will generally pay between 2500000 - 4200000 per annum for entry level staff.

Meanwhile a graduate assistant will probably earn like 1440000 naira per annum and Professors (after 15 - 20 years) will be earning about 4500000 naira per annum. almost what entry level bankers earn.

If job security is your thing and you don't mind crappy pay and poor working conditions for the rest of your career then take the lecturing job.

But if you desire a high flying corporate career the Banking job is the better choice. Or any other job in the industry. Of course there's little risk of lay off, but it is not as serious as you all paint it to be.

High flying while he weeps at MPR for not meeting his target and then he finally gets sacked.

Bank work is crap. Only laggards stay in banking in Nigeria.

Don't generalize. Have u heard of the Operations Team in banking?
All bankers do not attend MPR.
Even though I will take lecturing IF I have both opportunities looking me in the face.

A friend of mine recently got a job with a bank and about to resume next month. Just yesterday he also got an offer with a federal polytechnic as a graduate assistant lecturer. He hasn't got Msc though.
He is confused between these two jobs. Your candid advice will be appreciated. Which of these two jobs will give him better career prospect.
Thanks for your anticipated advice.

I'm not trying to be rude. It's just annoying that someone would say lecturing is not challenging/rewarding.

I know OPS generally do not attend MPR (though some banks have started). But the banking industry generally is very volatile. It's not the normal banking which you get in the books.

Lol. I have first hand insider info noni.
My bros, target cannot be met. So just cool down and present your slides with dignity.

Is it with all these empty treasury they are sharing that you will meet target ni? Where is the money?

They say meet the people you know for help. Like they don't know that outside your immediate family, your extended fam/friends would rather bank with outsiders, so you don't know how much they are worth. When you tell them about your 600m target, they will say: It's well. God will help you! They will troway face. Afterall, no be them send you bank work.
cheesy

Just take it a day at a time.
Keep applying and hopefully, everything would soon be a thing of the past....

Lecturing Job o
Re: Your Advice: Lecturing Or Banking Job. by Olufemisamuel: 4:51pm On Dec 10, 2018
To be sincere with you the lecturing career is somewhat better than the banking career. In terms of the salary structure bankers earn more than lecturers. A professor earns an average of N600, 000 according to daily times but a bank manager earns higher.
But do not be decieved by the pay alone. There are a lot of things that must be considered if you intend to pursue a career either in banking or lecturing.
This blog - www.manknow.xyz has provided the salary of both bankers and lecturers. Also to see reasons why the lecturing career is better than the banking career. You can click on this link https://www.manknow.xyz/2018/10/lecturing-career-vs-banking-career.html
