The normal thing the Police could have done is to arrests, detain and Charge him to Court.
Beating the guy could land the Police in serious trouble if the guy got good lawyers.

This picture was posted online this morning . It shows two police officers beating a driver with their baton. According to what happened, the driver was asked to stop at a police checkpoint but refused to and when a police man jumped on his bonnet, the driver drove off with him on it. Some other drivers and police van later intercepted the driver and the police officers used their baton to give him serious beating before they took him away.

It's those kids on NL that will shout like touts. They've never had their car stolen and driven non-stop till the criminals destination because the police didn't stop them. While not supporting police checkpointism, I don't advocate total removal.

Sensationalism is killing us as a people.......Nigerians behave like goats and we want to be treated like lambs.

Why did he not stop for the police officer, if he had killed the officer he would definitely not have stopped. He looks like one of those cab drivers who have no regards for traffic laws and other road users yet quick to beg after scratching ones vehicle.

I think Nigerians require force to make them comply and respect constituted authority. Its a reflection of our national life.

What happened to stopping for the police? What happened to respect for the law? In America, as things are now, he could have been shot dead for attempted murder of a cop. It's no joke. He's lucky our trigger happy cops decided to spare their bullets for the real criminals. People should learn to exercise their rights within the ambit of the law.

Then the policeman should be cautioned not to behave like a tout. It is most unbecoming of a uniformed personnel. He could have died for nothing had he fallen off the hood and fractured his skull or gotten run over by that miscreant driver.

My opinion

I tell people Nigerian police are not as blood thirsty as American police, you try this kind of a stunt with a US cop by trying to run him over? You will be shot dead I can guarantee you that, Naija police are way more civil than the average American cop black or white, and I am talking from experience. Only that they don't take bribes but in brutality Naija police are learners.
