the jaw will be fine, my aunt had an accident sometimes ago and her jaw was wired, she can only take pap and other liquids but became perfectly okay after the wire was removed.

Oh, I am so sorry for all the pain u are going through at the moment... I can imagine ur pain b'cos I was once in this situation my jaw was broken, had to survive on liquid food for 3 months + 5 days... At first, it wasn't easy o... Morning pap Afternoon evening same food until someone introduce this food made from [ Corn, groundnut, crayfish millet] go to Nairaland food section and read more about it. I hope u get well soon.

So sorry for what you are going through. For now, you only can take liquid food like soft drinks, juice. Don't take anything with ginger though.

Worry not,i have a scar on my jaw cos a mass was removed from it and thank God it wasn't malignant.

Actually, the best treatment for a broken jaw is an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), where they use screws and plates, but maybe due to financial reasons, Maxillo-mandibualar fixation was done, MMF (where wires were used to lock your jaws)

With the wiring, you can't talk probably and the food you eat must be in fluid form. You may lose weight because of this. Try to take nutritious fluid foods.

Try to brush well, because the wires tends to accumulate dirts on the teeth which can cause your gum to swell and may bleed either spontaneously or when you brush.

But just bear. After 6 weeks, the bone should have healed and the wires will be removed. You would probably need scaling and polishing (teeth cleaning) after the wires are removed
