That was why I advised you to go for a 300w panel as you can use it in future expansions, though there will be energy losses but the highest current you will get will be around 10a at 12v which your 70ah battery can still take

The electrolyte in a flooded deep cycle battery is a solution of acid and water. Using distilled water for inverter battery is recommended because it is free from additional minerals you would find in water such as regular tap water.

Adding chemicals, minerals or fake distilled water can significantly decrease the life of tubular batteries. Do not add additional acid or electrolyte solution, this can also diminish the battery life.

If you maintain the recommended level of distilled water in your tubular batteries with good charging system and good load management, your batteries will serve you for years.

Pls make sure you monitor your battery distilled water level and and don't ever allow it get below the *MIN LINE*. You can buy 25 litre jar and keep at home.

Provided the specific gravity of Electrolyte used is within what the battery type and brand allows, there is no cause for alarm on whether you top batteries with either distilled water or with Electrolyte.

The reason distilled water are used for top up is because, during the electroysis (when battery is charging and discharging), what escape is water vapour and not the ions contained in the Electrolyte.
The ions migrates and sticks to their respective electrodes.

The water vapour that escapes makes the indicator level drops. As soon as distilled water is used to top up, the Specific gravity of the entire system is kept constant.

Cultivate the habit of buying Electrolyte and distilled water from SMARTCELL and you will have nothing to worry about..

Guys, what are your thoughts:

My 30amps famicare charger is set Fast charge setting. My battery is now hovering between 14.9 and 15.0v (max charge recommendation), but the charger is outputting 12amps current charging.

Is this normal? I would have thought the output charge would have been throttled down to even 0.5amps since the battery has reached its max charge recommendation to protect it from overcharging - that is how my Anjing charger was doing back then.

Or is the charger not smart enough?

Update: I reduced the charge setting on the Famicare charger to Mid, and the outputting charge has dropped to about 8amps while the battery voltage has dropped to 14.4v

I know "I know nothing about Lithium" already (so if anyone wants to reply with that I'm already aware ) but we use and go through a lot of laptops in our business.
All are bought brand new and since 2010, I've realised in 2 years (or less) the batteries stop holding charge and have to be replaced, Dell, HP, Acer same thing, even the laptop manuals tell us to treat them as consumables.

It was only last year I realised they are a string of 18650 lithium cells (with a bms?).

So to my question,

I tend to read here that we should expect 2 years from lead acid and 10 yrs from lithium (or something of that sort)

I'm lost in between.

Or is the 10 yr lifespan just for LiFePo4?

From my little experience with laptop battery, there are times that the battery may stop working not because all the batteries are bad but a particular cell is weak for example if 1s out of the 3s is bad the battery will stop working.

Another factor is there is a threshold that laptop battery will get to that it wouldn't have the capacity to power the laptop..

Another factor is the smart bms in laptop battery, it can decide to disconnect the battery due to some factors
