Most people pay tax, but they dont enjoy anything in return, no electricity , no good schools, even their prisons in abroad is so fine , well maintained and equipped, good road, no security, no good health services, no good social facilities, so anyway you look at it. Life is still better in abroad than Africa....

Hmmm I know, hence I was trying to tell someone on this forum, we earn more in the UK or rather let me rephrase it, we get to keep more of our salary than guys in the US.the tax in the US is way way to much, my tax kicks in from after £11000 ,and I do not pay up to %20,if i earn up to £41000 then my tax is %40, plus ofcos national insurance thats that.

Life is better abroad agreed but it takes a source of money to enjoy that better life. Without that source of money (job or business), you're in serious trouble and would have been better off staying in Nigeria in the first place.

People will carry 4 to 6 million naira to study Masters in the United Kingdom and get sent back after they finish. It was those days it was easier to stay behind in the U.K now everything is tight and the routes that used to work don't work like that anymore.

We are saying the same thing, but in naija, your money may even be your greatest undoing.

Kidnappers are everywhere now, no good security, armed robbers , there are many jobless youth that have taken to crime.

People are killed weekly in naija for small amount like #1, 000 or less, imagine, or over any little disagreement.

I would advise anyone who wants to do a Master's degree with the intent of relocating abroad to avoid the United Kingdom. You end of paying the system and they throw you out, go straight ahead and try the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc. It might be more expensive and longer but if you study the right degree and pick up some practical certifications you have a better chance of staying behind, getting more experience and a salary that you can survive with. No be all abroad be abroad. Forget what people say.

That is how they do o. You will see some of them once in two years sef. The ones who are successful are trying to avoid the larger population of the unsuccessful ones. The unsuccessful ones are trying to hide from the shame of their conditions. Let me give you an example, if I earn £3000 before tax, I might pay £350 in tax and £180 in national Insurance. that will leave me with £2470 after tax, u get me now,its even better when you have family as you get tax relief.

I'm glad OP made the distinction between obodo oyinbo and U.S. I'm not here to tell you that there's milk & honey flowing in the U.S or the streets are paved with gold, but I can confidently say you have better opportunities in the U.S than you do in Europe. Like anything in life, good information and the determination to make use of that information will make you very successful. Unfortunately, some Nigerians travel overseas and squander their opportunities. Or their so called relatives in the U.S never guide them because many of them made stupid mistakes by either studying the wrong courses in school or made poor choices ex fathering several babies and being tied to pay child support for many years to mention just a few.

Let me have this on record, if you happen to visit the U.S with a greencard, I can personally guide you towards earning an associate degree under 2-3yrs or bachelors within 4yrs all depends on how much credits you carry over. And if you are hardworking and live in the right state, willing to work overtime, you can easily start making a minimum of $200,000 a year. Look at my other posts, I don't sell ebook or give false hopes. Not every 'obodo oyinbo' is the same.
