Reading was never our thing, our language poorly developed with no form of writing. Hence we were unable to document events, scientific discoveries, medical break through etc on which subsequent generations would build upon to contribute to the body of knowledge. These information were passed down generations by 'oral tradition'.
The white man taught most Nigerians how to write there name, our alphabets were a direct derivative from English alphabets.
