Nigerians In The UK Are Asked To Bring £30 For BVN by Mayour11(m): 2:02pm On Jul 15, 2015 |
Just got this information and think I should share for verification .... Money the root of all evil Na wa o. Nobody pays for BVN in Nigeria. Yet Nigerians in the UK are asked to bring £30 for BVN to fill a small form which takes less than 5 minutes. Na wa o. Some people try to make money from anything. The address to go to for this exercise is No. 56 to 57, Fleet street, London. This is an address belonging to the Nigerian High Commission in London, our Country's fully funded mission in the UK. Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrollment is a Federal government/Central Bank initiative available to all Nigerians to register freely to help the CBN administer banking more securely. Despite this being a public service matter, Nigerians still attempt to exploit and take advantage of other Nigerians in their vulnerable state. Is it because it will cost money and time to travel to Nigeria to do it? The Nigerian BVN enrollment exercise in the UK is being done through a private UK Company. The question is, why should the Banker to the Federal Government of Nigeria (the CBN) with all resources available to it (human, financial and technology) contract a third party Company to do a task freely performed by banks in Nigeria? A good number of Nigerian Banks have branches in the UK who can more efficiently provide the same service for nothing as they do in Nigeria or at worst at a nominal fee. In Nigeria, one can go to any Bank to enrol for BVN for free and not necesssarily your own bank. Not so in the UK, since millions of Nigerians from all over the UK have to go to one office in Fleet street, London. A recipe not only for exploitation but also for choas quite characteristic of how we do things since we only look at the money angle at the greatest inconvenience and to the economic detriment of the same people we claim to serve. Must we monetise everything and make life more difficult for so-called brethren we pretend to love each Friday and Sunday? Does it mean when Nigerians in the UK eventually get the right to vote in Nigerian elections, this will also be privatised and Nigerians in the UK and elsewhere abroad will also be told to pay for it? Would that not be ridiculous? This is no different. When do we stop worshiping this money and really face the God that we profess each Friday and Sunday to love? Can we love HIM when we cannot treat ourselves justly even when we have the opportunity to do so. Na wa o. Baba dey sidon look us. If this makes any sense, kindly share until it gets to those in government, the permanent secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the High Commissioner in London and to proponents of change in Aso Rock. BVN is free. Teacher no teach-ee me nonsense. I.
