Read this statement in 'The Nation' today...

A Statement On The Coroner's Inquest Of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations By The West Africa Civil Rights Coalition (WACROC)

The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the West African Civil Rights Coalition (WACROC) hereby expresses full interest in the recent Coroner's Inquest into the collapse of a building within The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigeria.

The concern of our members drawn from across 12 of the 16 member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is driven by the terse socio-political situation in most of the West African countries, most especially as it relates to faith-induced violence and the weakness of security and judicial institutions to appreciate and understand this sordid trend.

Today, the major challenge being faced by ECOWAS in Chad, Niger, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo and Nigeria amongst others is terrorism. There has been sophistication in the mode of attacks by the extremist groups since several months ago when Boko Haram christened itself the Islamic State of West Africa. Prior to this public announcement, the group has carried out attacks and terrorist campaigns on sub-regional levels.

The collapsed church building in Lagos, to us, looks too extraordinary. Can a building collapse without prior signals on its design and structure? Can a building collapse without prior cracks on the walls? Can a building collapse on a single space as if in a controlled demolition? If any extremist group is to live by its name (Islamic State of West Africa), The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations is a perfect target, being the most popular church in West Africa with such a huge emotional attachment by the Christian faithful throughout the region who throng the church in thousands by road, by sea and by air every Sunday.

Many faith-based groups have rejected threats of plans by the extremist group to attack them. In most cases, there has been very poor management of information, poor investigation skills of the intelligence security personnel and the desperation to respond only to the human casualties without a critical focus on the intelligence gathering on the form and content of such attacks. This is a bad commentary on West Africa's future.

We are concerned that most states in West Africa do not possess the technology and the required skill needed for a thorough forensic analyst of pre and post catastrophes. This often leads to poor conclusions that fail to meet the growing sophistication of the terrorist groups and their fresh tactics and strategies. For instance, though states and governments of West Africa are aware of the pre-collapse threat notices to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations by the terrorist group before the building collapse, it is sad and quite unfortunate that no thorough investigation has been launched to unravel those behind the plot.

There was also evidence of a strange plane that hovered over the collapsed building shortly before the incident. This was clearly shown in the video circulated all over the world. It is quite unfortunate that nothing has been done to probe this aspect even though it is evident as indicated in the video. What happened was a clear attempt to dismiss this key area as trite. It is on this basis that we ask the Lagos State Government to probe deeper into the well-founded claims of the attack on the church building being as a result of a bomb.

The Lagos State government should probe the possible link between the attack and the contract said to have been signed between the Nigerian Federal Government under President Goodluck Jonathan and a private South African company. This may have been accountable for the fact that over 70% of the casualties were South Africans.

It is our informed opinion that the Lagos State government should on its own, for its own security and for the wellbeing of her 20 million citizens, and to prevent future occurrences, conduct an independent investigation, with the help of international agencies, to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the building collapse in the context of global terrorism and the new scientific devices of terror campaigners across West Africa.

The Lagos State government, the Federal Government of Nigeria and West African governments should take critical and well informed steps and should not allow institutional opinions to be prejudiced by the well known malaise and rivalry that exist in Nigerian Christendom which often reflect the acts of government institutions and the idiosyncrasies of individuals in government.

NGOs across West Africa will begin a massive drive to set aside harmful decisions taken and to ensure there is justice for the church, the victims and the society. We have made this observation in good faith and are hoping that the Lagos State government, the governments of Nigeria, West African nations and her good people will drink from this pot of wisdom.

Established since 1996, WACROC promotes justice, peace and human rights in West Africa. Its members comprise of people from Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin Republic, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Gambia, Niger and Chad.

Which of the lies do you choose to believe ? Everyone surely has formed an opinion on this depending on which of the "lies" suit their agenda.

Non-Christains would surely support the "lie" which mocks the Church.

So, which of the "lies" do you agree with?

Big question, huh? We all need soul-searching.smiley

As The SCOAN initially stated, the verdict 'leaves many questions unanswered and issues unaddressed'.

I would like people to look into this issue of government contract with South Africa. Remember the Ayo Oritsejafor jet debacle that happened at a similar time... - or the scandal in S/Africa where they alleged the government traded weapons for the bodies of the synagogue victims.

There is DEFINITELY more to this case than meets the eye...

Why is it that everything about TB Joshua seems to be shrouded in controversy

Religion devoid of reason is one of the causes of our backwardness in Africa. While almost all other regions of the world are advancing at a dizzying speed by controlling the force of nature for the benefit of it's citizens we get bogged down by trying to justify the illogicalities of imported religions. China can make almost anything ever conceived my man and India just launched as successful spacecraft to Mars.

Yet we allow some nut cases to shape or thought by feckless and shameless lies and falsehood. The lies become even more painful when it comes from institutions that pretends to be a moral compass and repository of truth and upright behavior. When has it become so popular to admit one is wrong or made a mistake in any endeavor. Why will a religious body carry out reckless propaganda to protect itself from the consequences of wrong doing? I will answer, it exposes the quicksand it has built as a foundation, the hollowness of its philosophy, and the lack of belief even in it's own tenets. It is also evident that purports to thrive and grow despite official sanctions and persecution now needs government laws to implement and enforce it's doctrines and teachings. Nothing else can illustrate the 'fakeness' of the so-called power of persuasion and conviction it claims to possess.

Back to the matter raised by the phantom group in West Africa that went missing during the last crisis on real West African citizens, the Ebola scourge, it is laughable that we only get to know of the groups existence when there is money not lives to be protected.

Like Janus, the two faced monster that they are, the group claims it is controlled demolition and in the next sentence claims some aircraft was seen flying around and probably dropped the bomb that brought down the building. The question unbiased minds should ask is at what time did the so-called Boko Haram operatives gain access to strap bombs to all the numerous pillars of the large building? And they did this through out the floors undetected, and nobody say the strapped bombs, nobody hard the drilling necessary to correctly place the bombs until it detonated.
The claimed a strange aircraft flew over the building, but in their haste they forget that such happens around numerous building in Lagos on daily basis including the one i lived in around Ikeja. Helicopters and airplane at low altitude is a daily occurrence for hundreds of buildings in Lagos including those still standing and a few that have since collapsed. In no case has anyone attributed such collapse to overflying aircraft.

It is a shame that many church members and many other religious people are quick to suspend reason and jettison truth whenever a matter like this is brought up and quickly join the band wagon of this obviously stupid and unsavoury conspiracy theory.
They have failed to show that the church obtained the necessary permit for the building job, neither are they interested in showing that the design of the building is adequate for the load placed on it's pillars and beams. The structural designers who are supposed to be professionals are not presenting any proof they followed standard practice in the job they are banking on been saved from responsibility for the deaths of fellow humans by the web of conspiracy and our penchant to forgive and move on.

There have been cases in other climes of survivors committing suicide for their inability to render help to fellow victims trapped in a mishap e.g shipwrecks, fire. In most cases they are not responsible in any way for the accident, they just feel inadequate and commit suicide for such failure. This is not an endorsement of suicide. But in our own case we have people directly responsible for taking wrong decisions that led to loss of almost 100 lives, yet they are showing remorse, not even willing to submit to the consequences of the negligence they were accused of of even if wrongly. It tells a lot about how irresponsible they feel about the deaths. Neither the church nor its builders are willing to take any responsibility but are busy looking for scapegoats in some phantom terrorist.

It shows how much moral decay has crept into the church as we have a lot of so-called CHRISTIANS willing to absolve the church of any responsibility for these needless deaths by buying into this false stories of bombing without any credible evidence.

So because somebody posted a clip to manipulate your mind you swallow it hook, line and sinker, no questions asked no cerebral input from your brain. What is the difference between how you used your brain and how a hen will use it's own?

They presented pictures of partially collapsed building and is that how ALL structural failures end? Even in Lagos there have been many cases of collapsed building due to structural defect, how many of them remain standing like those shown in this video? When religion is thrown into the mix even good people will become more than willing to commit terrible deeds.

Go to Mende, Maryland and and ask about the hotel that collapsed over 25 years ago and ask about how many floors out of 8 remain intact after it collapsed. Was Boko Haram also operating since then?
