These ideas, though touching, have proved to be an almost sure recipe for the eventual dissolution of marriages – and have caused havoc in the emotional lives of millions of otherwise sane and well-meaning couples.

As a corrective to them, I plead with my fellow Nairalanders for their suggestion and opinion on that particular time one can buoyantly said 'I AM READY FOR MARRIAGE'

To me, marriage is not about being ready, its about your ability to cope. Its just like a university, you don't say u need to be ready before you go.... If you go and you can't cope, you'll find a way to survive or get kicked out. Marriage is about coping. Once you are married, you tend to keep it going. Most marriages fail not because the couples weren't ready but because they couldn't cope again. The main reason marriages fail in Nigeria is the fault of the brides' friends.
