I have been experienced 2 recent timing belt failures in the last 3months in my Camry 01 which is quite unusual. timing belts shld not be changed more than once a year under ideal scenarios and I need to know what could be the culprit cos its not fun experiencing such incidents.

which symptoms can one look out for? advice and suggestions are welcome

You're either taking your Toyota Camry to a brick layer, to replace your timing belt. Or you're buying replica / aftermarket belts. You need to state which of the above you're guilty of.

Because a genuine timing belt should last between 70,000 and 120,000 miles (approx. 7 - 12 years) Go with genuine Toyota parts, use a reputable shop, with a technician who knows the difference between a spade and a torque wrench, and save yourself a ton of dough.

bricklayer ? lol. thanks Siena though I still have the feeling that there may be an underlying cause hence the need to prevent a reoccurrence.

I have noticed this with a lot of 2001 camry. Like sienna said, either a fake belt or bad technician. But check online if there is a timing belt TSB from toyota

Timing belt or serpentine belt? If serpentine belt, check that your pulleys are rolling freely and aren't seizing up. Also check your belt adjuster. If timing belt, make sure you buy the original and not those N1500 belts.
